Tuesday was sunny, quite chilly with light winds in the AM, then becoming cloudy mid-day and staying that way the rest of the day. Light rain showers were expected but no rain fell measurably at my station on Tuesday. April Fool’s day (the beginning of a new April month) was sunny, quite chilly and windy early but diminishing as the day progressed. A friend of mine about 10 miles north of me in the Damascus area reported a few snow flakes falling around 0830 to document how cold it was. As I write this early Monday, the Final Four spots have been determined in the NCAA basketball tournament. The two remaining members of the Final Four were finalized on Sunday afternoon and evening with two exciting games. Auburn defeated SEC rival Kentucky 77-71 in overtime in Kansas City in the opener, then Michigan State defeated Duke 68-67 in the Washington DC Regional final in the second game. As I write this early Sunday, two of the Final Four spots have been determined with the other two being determined on Sunday afternoon/early evening out of the Regional Finals coming out of the 4 Regional Centers around the country. In close, hotly contested games Saturday, Virginia beat Purdue in overtime 80-75 and Texas Tech beat top seeded Gonzaga 75-69.
