Mostly sunny, warmer, moderately humid and dry/still generally pleasant update for Friday, August 30, 2019 from West Rockville Maryland

Friday was a mostly sunny, dry day, warmer, moderately humid as yesterday, but still relatively pleasant. High temperatures reached the mid 80s by mid-afternoon after a cool early AM with mins in the upper 50s, officially my first and probably only day in August as such (using rounded values). Dew point temperatures were in the mid-upper 50s in much of the morning, but rose into the mid 60s by mid-day and stayed there the rest of the day up to midnight…

Mostly cloudy, a bit warmer and more humid, a changeable day with afternoon showers accompanying a slow moving weak frontal passage update for Wednesday, August 28, 2019 from West Rockville Maryland

Mostly cloudy, a bit warmer and more humid, a changeable day with afternoon showers accompanying a slow moving weak frontal passage update for Wednesday, August 28, 2019 from West Rockville Maryland

Wednesday was mostly cloudy, a tad warmer and more humid as our pleasant weather changed into a bit of uncomfortable higher dew points that prompted me to put the A/C on again. We had mid-afternoon showers (0.31 inches approx from 1540-1640, heaviest around 1547) that accompanied a slow moving, weak frontal passage that was slow to clear and slow to dry us out in the post-frontal evening hours. High temperatures still stayed in the upper 70s in the early  afternoon,…

Partly to mostly cloudy, cooler, drier, very pleasant update for Friday, August 23 through Tuesday, August 27, 2019 at West Rockville Maryland

So as usual I will combine the past 5 days into one somewhat abbreviated but necessarily longer post today. Friday was cloudy with some early light showers (0.03 inches – only rain during this 5 day period) and…

Partly cloudy, not quite as hot but still quite humid into the evening ahead of one more heavy thundershower update for Thursday, August 22, 2019 at West Rockville Maryland

Thursday was not quite as hot as earlier in the week with temps rising into the upper 80s due to more clouds than sun and stormy evening periods in evening, still quite humid into the evening with the storm. We had severe thunderstorm watches by mid-afternoon and warnings as the storms moved in during the evening. We had one heavy thunderstorm from about 2025-2100 (0.69 inches total for the day) , with 59 lightning strikes recorded by my lightning detector.
