Cloudy, much cooler, quite pleasant update for Friday, September 13, 2019 from West Rockville Maryland

Friday really changed over to a cloudy, much cooler pattern. Sprinkles/light showers fell in the area but didn’t amount to very much (0.03 inches), falling before sunrise in the early AM. The high temperature for the day was reached right at the start of the day at midnight in the lower mid 70s, but fell back into the 60s soon thereafter, reaching the mid 60s low for the day right after sunrise, and remained there all day. The PM max…

Partly cloudy, still hot and humid but remaining dry as storms threaten once again update for Thursday, September 12, 2019 from West Rockville Maryland

Partly cloudy, still hot and humid but remaining dry as storms threaten once again update for Thursday, September 12, 2019 from West Rockville Maryland

Thursday continued hot and humid under partly cloudy skies with late afternoon/early evening storm threats once again but missing my immediate area once again. On radar a storm tracked southeast from Frederick right along I-270 but somehow stayed just east of my location. There still was plenty of fuel for the storms earlier today but gradually in the evening cooling NE breezes from the backdoor frontal passage (from the north) calmed the atmosphere with cooler, somewhat drier air as the evening…

Partly cloudy, hot, more humid but still dry as storms in area miss my location update for Wednesday, September 11, 2019 from West Rockville Maryland

Partly cloudy, hot, more humid but still dry as storms in area miss my location update for Wednesday, September 11, 2019 from West Rockville Maryland

Wednesday turned hot and humid under partly cloudy skies with late afternoon/early evening storm threats. Storms just to my west in northern VA looked like a sure thing as they were moving east towards my location, but they veered more south and broke up over my area with nary a measurable drop or rumble of thunder observed. There was plenty of fuel for the storms today as temps soared up into the mid 90s by mid-afternoon, after early morning mins…

Partly cloudy, warmer, a bit more humid but still dry update for Tuesday, September 10, 2019 from West Rockville Maryland

Tuesday turned partly cloudy with quite a bit of sun, warming things up into the mid 80s after a fairly pleasant early AM in the mid 60s. Dew point temps remained mostly in the 60s all day, highest mid-morning and lowest in mid-day.  The maximum temperature was 86.6 degrees at 1447. The minimum temperature was 65.9 degrees at 0347. The dew point temperatures ranged from a high of 69 degrees @ 0914 down to a low of 59 degrees @ 1207….

Mostly cloudy but with some afternoon sun, a bit warmer, still dry update for Monday, September 9, 2019 from West Rockville Maryland

Monday turned mostly cloudy, particularly in the AM hours, with some spotty drizzle/light showers around but none recorded at my location, cool in the early hours of the day but warming to just above 80 by mid-afternoon as some sun came through.  Early AM mins were in the milder mid 60s to start the day.  Dew point temps remained in the 60s all day, highest mid-day and lowest in the late evening.  The maximum temperature was 80.6 degrees at 1625….

Partly sunny, very similar conditions to Saturday update for Sunday, September 8, 2019 from West Rockville Maryland

Partly sunny, very similar conditions to Saturday update for Sunday, September 8, 2019 from West Rockville Maryland

I really did have remarkably similar statistics today compared with yesterday, same high temperature, very close dew point and relative humidity values, and similar partly cloudy, dry conditions. I had plenty of sun with just fair-weather cumulus dotting the sky at times (see today’s featured image). High temps rose to the upper 70s by earlyafternoon after a pleasant early AM min around the 60 mark, two degrees warmer than the Saturday early AM min. Dew point temps ranged from the upper…

Partly sunny, a bit warmer but still pleasant and dry update for Saturday, September 7, 2019 from West Rockville Maryland

Now that we finally cleared Dorian out of our area, we had a pretty nice Saturday, a bit warmer with a lot more sun with just fair-weather cumulus dotting the sky at times (see today’s featured image) and a bit lower dew points from yesterday. High temps rose to the upper 70s by mid-afternoon after a pleasant upper 50s early AM min started us off nicely.  Dew point temps ranged from the mid 50s in the early AM up to the…

Mostly cloudy, cool, breezy northerly component winds, through mid afternoon, then clearing and milder late, dry update for Friday, September 6, 2019 from West Rockville Maryland

Mostly cloudy, cool, breezy northerly component winds, through mid afternoon, then clearing and milder late, dry update for Friday, September 6, 2019 from West Rockville Maryland

Finally Friday was the day that Hurricane Dorian paid our area a visit, albeit quite a mild one. Clouds from the outermost bands of Dorian kept us cool and breezy through mid-afternoon, then as it moved off to the NE skies brightened and the sun warmed us up into the mid 70s by late afternoon. No rain fell, rain bands only got as far as southern Maryland from what I saw, and stormy conditions in the state was really confined…

Mostly cloudy, some sun through clouds, cooler, still dry update for Thursday, September 5, 2019 from West Rockville Maryland

Thursday was quite a changeable day as Hurricane Dorian inched northward along the East Coast, with its initial outermost bands of circulation entered our region today (see today’s featured image). Skies were cloudy most of the day, but with a very thin overcast in the AM and early PM, the sun filtered through the clouds much of the time. High temps held in the 70s all day, as the high temperature for the day was reached at midnight, and then…

Partly Sunny, much warmer, and more humid, but still dry update for Wednesday, September 4, 2019 from West Rockville Maryland

Wednesday was partly sunny, significantly warmer and more humid, still dry though isolated showers did fall in parts of the region, though nothing fell at my station. The morning started out with a stratus overcast with ight fog, but burned off by mid-morning as temperatures soared to around 90 after early AM mins around 70.  Dew point temperatures ranged from the mid 60s in the very early AM and the very late PM, but rose into the sultry mid 70s during…
