Changing up on my usual once every 10 days reporting pace, I thought the very active, stormy pattern for a good part of the day on Monday was quite interesting and warranted a special post off-schedule. Light rain began late Sunday evening, continuing overnight into Monday morning and slowly increasing in intensity as the rumble of thunder became more frequent. APRIL 1-10, 2020 – TYPICALLY VARIABLE UP AND DOWN TEMPERATURES WITH A COOL BEGINNING AND END AND MILD MIDDLE WITH CONTINUED FREQUENT LIGHT RAINS; ENDING WINDY PERIOD IN WEST ROCKVILLE MARYLAND

The mixture of mild to warm days interspersed with cooler periods with frequent light rains continued through the beginning of April. We had only 0.42 inches total of rainfall during this period, with 9.17 inches for the year through April 10. Once again we had no days with minimum temperatures at or below the freezing mark (extreme low only 38.4 degrees on the 2nd) during this latest 10 day period. February 2020 was warmer and a bit wetter than normal. My maximum temperature average (48.8°) was 4.0° above normal but my minimum temperature average (33.1°) was more significantly above normal (+6.3°), resulting in the mean temperature average of 40.9° to be 5.1° above normal. My total precipitation of 3.27″ was 0.52” above the normal February value for my station of 2.75”.
