Partly cloudy, cold, drying out update for West Rockville Maryland on Friday, March 9 2018
On Friday, we had partly cloudy skies and slightly colder temperatures with a bit of a breeze at times. Today’s featured image shows the 1030 photo taken for my GLOBE Clouds observation coinciding with the satellite flyover around that time. A clear, colder evening, with temps falling below freezing before midnight obs, then holding that way during the overnight hours into Saturday. 40° was reached mid-day before later day cooling back into the 30s kicked in. The Friday maximum temperature from the VP2 (40.5°) was recorded at 1207 while the minimum temperature (30.3°) was recorded at 2346. Dew point temperatures continued relatively low, ranging from a high of 23° at 1150 down to a low of 17° at 1024. Relative humidity values also stayed relatively low all day (67% – 45%). Barometric values raised a bit today, ranging from an early low of 29.85″ at 0243 up to a high of 30.04″ much later at 2341.
Remember now you can get the VP2 data on Weatherlink. You can access the data through http://www.weatherlink.com/user/walrusman444.
I am posting daily to weather underground. My ID is KMDROCKV200 and my station is called “Gardens of Traville.” Data is online, normally just about in real-time. I contribute daily to cocorahs as Rockville 2.8 WNW, Station ID MD-MG-115. Please remember that Weather Underground does not report snow data, and reflects what is recorded automatically through the tipping bucket VP2 gauge.
I did some science fair emailing correspondence, and found out that the 75 additional AMS Award Certificates should be arriving from AMS HQ in Boston on Saturday late morning according to UPS Choice.
It was partly sunny and cold on Friday, with highs around 40° and lows around 30°. . Sunny and a bit milder on Saturday, with highs in the upper 40s and lows in the mid 20s. Sunday looks to have mostly sunny skies with highs in the upper 40s and lows in the upper 20s. Monday should be cloudy and cold with high temps in the mid 40s and lows in the upper 20s with only a 10 POP as our next potential storm track looks to be staying well offshore and missing our area to the southeast. Tuesday should be mostly cloudy with highs in the low 40s and lows in the mid 20s. Normal highs and lows now are in the low-mid 50s and low 30s. Wednesday should be mostly cloudy and a bit colder with highs in the upper 30s and lows in the mid 20s.
On the Channel 4 weather website at 0835 radar is showing areas of rain over parts of NC, S and SW VA, KY and TN, with some snow showers over parts of WV, PA, NY and OH at this time. They won’t be making it into our region any time soon unfortunately.
