A partly cloudy, hot and humid but still mostly dry weather update for West Rockville Maryland for Thursday August 17 2017
Thursday was partly sunny, hot, humid but still mostly dry save for a light shower in the mid-afternoon between 3-4 PM I believe (.02″). Temperatures rose to about 90° after early morning low temperatures in the muggy low 70s. Now at 0700 we have cloudy skies with temps in the mid 70s with muggy dew point temperatures also in the mid 70s. The Thursday minimum temperature from the VP2 in the shelter on the ground nearby (71.7°) was recorded at 0642 while the maximum temperature (89.7°) was recorded at 1431. Dew point temps rose today to gross levels, ranging from 70° up to 80°. Relative humidity values rose once again (98% – 68%). Barometric values lowered slightly today, ranging from 29.90″ at 2348 to 30.03″ at 0002 (virtually 24 hours earlier than the min value).
Remember now you can get the new ground-based VP2 data on Weatherlink. You can access the data through http://www.weatherlink.com/user/walrusman444I got up in the late morning as Marty came in around 0800 to finish up the VP2 mounting post change that he just had worked out a revision to at home. I had a brunch of cereal, a banana, and coffee well after Marty left. I got a lot of miscellaneous things done, mostly finishing up my 72 trivia question sheet for the 1830 trivia game. I also spoke briefly with Tracy and Robin on the phone in the later afternoon (Tracy) and mid evening (Robin). I made stuffed peppers from the filling Mike brought me yesterday from Tracy, roasting the peppers first, then cooking everything together (including some shredded cheese on top) I also had some more potato and orzo salad, plus the usual prune juice and spicy V8 juice, along with some pepperoncini.. Later I had a few triscuits I snacked on. I had my usual water intake and vitamins and medicines that I take every day.
We now have mostly cloudy skies, with temperatures in the mid 70s at 0700. Friday looks hot once again (around 90°) with a 90 POP for showers and storms, some possibly severe with lows in the upper 60s. Saturday and Sunday look sunny and warm, with highs in the mid 80s and lows in the mid-upper 60s and virtually no chance for rain. Right now the outlook for Eclipse Monday appears to be unsettled with highs in the mid 80s and a 50 POP for showers/storms under partly to mostly cloudy skies.
On Channel 4 radar at 0700 we are void of precipitation in our immediate area but scattered showers are falling in the mountains to the W and SW, over parts of the states of KY, WV, and PA at this time.
