WEST ROCKVILLE MARYLAND WEATHER UPDATE – TUESDAY NOVEMBER 23, 2021

My wrist discomfort bothered me a bit less today but I still have weakness with certain muscle movements/actions that was more troubling at times. Wearing the wrist brace overnight and applied the Voltaren early today. Occasional back discomfort returned unfortunately. I still need to make tonight’s post shorter as I have been the past week to somewhat reduce my typing efforts.

A short, really sad note from the local DC Weather community My friend Mark Richards tipped me about the unfortunate passing of long-time TV meteorologist Doug Hill at his retirement home in North Carolina very recently. He broadcast TV weather on local TV stations WUSA 9 and WJLA 7 for over 30 years. A really pleasant, gentle personality who was loved by all. He will really be missed by all. May he RIP.

Tuesday was partly cloudy, colder with a bit stronger winds. I reached the mid 40s mark for today’s high in the mid-afternoon with dew points ranging from the mid 20s in the morning down to the upper teens by late evening. Today’s low temperature was colder than yesterday, in the upper 20s right before midnight at the end of the day.

The peak wind gust for the day (29 MPH) was a bit stronger than yesterday, “peaking” midday, maintaining the NW direction from yesterday. Barometric pressures were highest in the late evening hours while the lowest was reached in the early (overnight) hours.

Wednesday through Sunday should be seasonably cold and partly cloudy with highs in the mid-upper 40s and lows in the mid-upper 20s except for a one day mini warmup on Thursday Thanksgiving Day with more clouds than sun but still dry and highs in the mid 50s and lows in the upper 30s. Friday should be the coldest day especially due to increasingly windy conditions expected to develop behind a strong cold frontal passage. There are some hints by some local meteorologists that we might see our first snowflakes of the season over the weekend, particularly on Sunday. Stay tuned on that potentially exciting development!
