WEST ROCKVILLE MARYLAND WEATHER UPDATE – FRIDAY JULY 9, 2021

Elsa left the area in the early AM with light showers falling overnight (0.10″) then clearing ensued through the early afternoon but clouds built back quickly by mid-afternoon and brief, heavy showers added considerably to the daily total (0.51″) during the rest of the afternoon. Max temps reached the upper mid 80s early afternoon before the showers started in the mid-afternoon. The daily min temp in the upper 60s was reached during the usual time in the early morning just prior
to sunrise.

The winds increased even more during the afternoon shower activity well into the moderately strong range, veering over to a northerly direction. Barometric pressures were lowest as Elsa was leaving overnight and peaking in the late evening just prior to midnight.

Saturday should be mostly cloudy but dry, with highs in the mid 80s and lows in the upper 60s. Sunday and Monday should be partly cloudy, very warm and humid with highs in the upper 80s to around 90 with good chances of showers and storms, lows in the lower 70s.

Currently at 0202 AM EDT Saturday we have mostly cloudy skies with a temperature of 72.4, barometer 29.97″ and rising, relative humidity 82%, dew point 67, winds NNW-N at 0-5 MPH. No rain has fallen since midnight into the tipping bucket VP2 gauge at the USG site across the street from me.
