MARCH 21-31, 2020 – TYPICALLY VARIABLE UP AND DOWN TEMPERATURES AS SPRING TAKES HOLD, ALSO FREQUENT LIGHT RAINS AND FOG IN WEST ROCKVILLE MARYLAND
Continuing with the roughly 10 day shorter summaries to cover a general period of more or less similar weather patterns, the mixture of mild to warm days with frequent light rains continued through this ending of month period. We had a similar 1.14 inches total of rainfall during this period, only 0.03″ more than the previously reported period. I now have 8.75 inches for the year through March 31. There was light precipitation on four of the days of this period, with a foggy period late, somewhat associated with some of the precipitation days. the lowest dew points in the 20s during the cooler mid period and highest at the warm
end of the period. With the increase in daily rainfall, fire danger was reduced significantly during the period.
I think my seasonal snowfall of only 3.0 inches of snow with no March accumulation is unfortunately complete
No severe weather was encountered this entire time period.
April weather looks to start out relatively dry and seasonable during the upcoming first week of the month. Cherry and other tree blossoms are really coming out, and on Tuesday the lawn mowers were in action for the first time that I had heard for the spring/summer season. Please see the attached picture to see them in action.
The current temperature is 38.8 degrees at 0618. Temps should stay relatively cool today with somewhat blustery conditions.
