For the time being I won’t be posting daily wx updates, but more like 7-10 day shorter summaries to cover a general period of more or less similar weather patterns. We sure have started off February mild to warm and wet, with 1.68 inches of rain falling, 7 cloudy days, and only 3 days with mins at or below the freezing mark (extreme low only 28.4 deg on the 9th, which is actually above the normal min temp for this time of year of about 23 degrees). The highest temp of the period was 68.3 on the 3rd.

Nothing close to resembling snowfall, and none on the horizon either unfortunately. So far this season I have a whopping 3.0″ of snow total. 

The greatest peak wind gust during the period was 53 MPH from the NW on Feb 7, when morning severe weather suddenly developed over the area, with 5 tornadoes (one F1 and the rest F0) reported in Maryland and 1 n Virginia. I recorded my lowest barometric pressure of 28.91 inches on that morning. Storm damage was considerable iin places n mostly rural and suburban locations mostly to the north and east of my location with no deaths reported.   More rain falling today (Tuesday Feb 11) with more during the next several days.
