Mostly sunny, coldest day of the season (so far) update for Wednesday, November 13, 2019 from West Rockville Maryland

Wednesday was mostly sunny and quite cold, the coldest day of the fall season so far. It actually would have been a bit below normal for January esp on the high temperature side of things. Today’s min of 22.5 degrees was the coldest reading since March 7 when it was 20.0 degrees.  High temperatures were reached in the mid afternoon (mid 30s) after early AM min temps in the low 20s. Dew point temperatures were also the lowest since March, remaining in the teens all day, from the lower teens in the very early AM to the upper teens by early evening.

The maximum temperature was 34.0 degrees at 1501.

The minimum temperature was 22.5 degrees at 0642.

The dew point temperatures ranged from a low of 13 degrees @ 0001 up to a high of 19 degrees @ 1912.

The relative humidity values ranged from a high of 73% @ 0627 down to a low of 44% @ 1504.

The barometric pressure ranged from a low of 30.30 inches @ 0000 up to a high of 30.49 inches @ 0954.

The highest daily peak wind gust recorded across the street on the roof of the new USG building was 20 MPH that was recorded at 1010 from the NW. Please remember that this anemometer is at a non-standard height of 60 feet above ground level (AGL), which can cause greater wind speeds than at the standard 33 feet AGL.

There was no precipitation on Wednesday. My November monthly total precipitation is 0.25 inches. My November monthly total snowfall is a trace. The year-to-date precipitation total is 44.82 inches.

My current downstairs station data is now showing regularly on Weather Underground. My data is posted there every 5 minutes. My ID is KMDROCKV200 and my station is called Gardens of Traville. Data is online, available in real-time as it is being updated on a 5 minute interval. The web address for my data on weather
underground is: https://www.wunderground.com/personal-weather-station/dashboard?ID=KMDROCKV200

I contribute my precipitation data daily to CoCoRaHS as Rockville 2.8 WNW, Station ID MD-MG-115 and can be found on the web at https://www.cocorahs.org

Please remember that my Weather Underground precipitation data reflects what is recorded automatically through the tipping bucket VP2 gauge, just as it does on WxLink 2.0. The tipping bucket has been producing erratic values on most days (when I have had rain that is) so should not be used except for general precipitation
timing.

I actually use the data I post to CoCoRaHS from my 4 inch CoCoRaHS gauge I read manually as my official precipitation total each day.

Wednesday was leftover day with frozen waffles for brunch and the remaining pork barbecue and beef roast with carrots and potatoes for dinner. I even finished up the cake I had brought home from last Saturdays party at Herbs. I engaged in some good conversation with Mark Ingalls about mountains through FACEBOOK, and filled out a survey through AMS on a possible weather enthusiasts group getting started up soon.

Thursday and Friday should moderate some with highs in the mid 40s – lower 50s and lows around 30 under partly cloudy skies.

On Saturday there should be a cooldown with low 40s for highs and upper 20s for lows under mostly sunny skies. Sunday and Monday should be mostly cloudy with a coastal storm just out of range offshore and highs in the low-mid 40s and lows in the low-mid 30s. It will be breezy at times.

The period from now through the weekend should still remain dry.

At Midnight Wednesday, partly cloudy skies with a temperature of 28.7 degrees, relative humidity 64%, pressure steady at 30.45 inches with a dew point temperature of 18 degrees. Winds averaged 2 MPH from the SE.

Currently at 1235 EST Thursday the temperature is 39.3 degrees under partly cloudy skies, relative humidity at 46%, barometric pressure falling at 30.38 inches, and the dew point temperature at 20 degrees. Winds are averaging 5 MPH over the past 10 minutes from the SW. Peak wind gust since midnight has been 17 MPH from the SW at 0938.

Good afternoon from the walrus on this not as chilly Thursday.
