Cloudy, cold with some light snow, sleet, freezing rain early changing to light rain the rest of the day update for Monday, February 11, 2019 for West Rockville Maryland

Cloudy, cold all day with temperatures hovering right around the freezing mark without much variation at all. Light snow started the day, mixing later overnight with freezing rain and sleet, then light rain during most of the daylight hour. Snow to the north, rain to the south, my immediate area was in the battle zone in the early hours but moving north of the area by mid-morning and for the rest of the day.

Monday’s maximum temperature was 33.9° at 1427.

Sunday’s minimum temperature was 31.3° at 0000.

Sunday’s dew point temperatures ranged from a low of 29° @ 0000 up to a high of 33° @ 1335.

Sunday’s relative humidity values ranged from a low of 91% @ 0000 up to a high of 95% @ 1257.

Sunday’s barometric pressure ranged from a high of 30.37″ @ 0006 down to a low of 30.26″ @ 1442.

Monday had 0.60″ of melted precipitation. My February monthly total is now 0.83″ with my year-to-date total now at 4.41″ for 2019.

0.2″ of snow/sleet fell early on Monday. My year-to-date snowfall is now 16.7″ with the seasonal total at 18.8″

My current online data (except for rainfall/snowfall – use the cocorahs link shown below for that dataset) is showing regularly on Weather Underground. My data is posted there every 5 minutes. My ID is KMDROCKV200 and my station is called “Gardens of Traville.” Data is online, normally just about in real-time now as it is being updated on a 5 minute interval. The web address for my data on weather underground is:
https://www.wunderground.com/personal-weather-station/dashboard?ID=KMDROCKV200

I contribute my precipitation data daily to CoCoRaHS as Rockville 2.8 WNW, Station ID MD-MG-115 on https://www.cocorahs.org/

Please remember that Weather Underground precipitation data reflects what is recorded automatically through the tipping bucket VP2 gauge, just as it does on WxLink 2.0. The tipping bucket has been producing erratic values at times so should not be used except for general precipitation timing. For example during our big snowstorm back in mid-January the snow didn’t melt at all during the storm, and only started to record precipitation amounts a few days later when the sun and above freezing temperatures started to melt the snow.

I actually use the data I post to CoCoRaHS from my 4 inch CoCoRaHS gauge I read manually as my “official” precipitation total each day. I also use a snow stake outside my balcony window to get an idea on how much snow has fallen (while it is snowing) and how much snow is on the ground.

Tuesday should have mostly rain during the day. Temps will moderate through the 30s up to about 40° by the afternoon.

Partly sunny, windy skies on Wednesday with highs in the low 40s and lows in the mid 20s.

Thursday should be cloudy and milder with highs in the lower 50s, lows in the low 40s.

Friday clouds with rain developing, highs in the upper 50s and lows dropping a bit down into the upper-mid 30s.

Saturday should be colder with highs in the low 40s, lows in the low-mid 20s with a chance of snow or a mix of rain and snow.

Sunday may have more of a mix again, cloudy with highs in the upper mid 30s and lows in the mid 20s.

Midnight Monday night found the temperature at 32.4°, cloudy, relative humidity 95%, pressure steady at 30.33″ and the dew point at 31.1° under cloudy skies.

Currently at 0536 the temperature is 32.4° under cloudy skies (with light rain/light freezing rain falling) , relative humidity at 95%, barometric pressure now falling at 30.25″, and the dew point at 31°. So far 0.12″ of precipitation has fallen since midnight.

Good morning from the wet walrus on this cloudy, rainy Tuesday.
