A lightly wet early Saturday, then mostly sunny/clear and mild (rest of the) weekend update for West Rockville, Maryland for Saturday, January 5 and Sunday, January 6 2019
Pro Football playoff weekend so I was short on time for much of Saturday and Sunday, so I have combined the two days into one post (again).
Saturday was cloudy and mild overnight with light rain (0.13″) falling (mostly between 0200-0400) then turning sunny by the afternoon with mild temperatures reaching the 50° mark, then remaining mild in the evening up to midnight, only dropping into the mid 40s by midnight observation.
Saturday
The maximum temperature was 50.5° at 1622.
The minimum temperature was 42.5° at 0745.
Dew point temperatures ranged from a high of 44° @ 1154 down to a low of 38° @ 2147.
Relative humidity values ranged from a high of 96% @ 0228 down to a low of 71% @ 1910.
Barometric pressure ranged from a low of 29.49″ @ 0610 up to a high of 29.87″ @ 2234.
Saturday had 0.13″ of rain. 0.16″ is my January monthly total so far and also my year-to-date total for 2019.
Sunday was mostly sunny and seasonably mild, with high temps reaching the low 50s by mid-afternoon, then dropping off to the upper 30s in the mid-late evening for the lowest values for the day.

Sunday had no rain. 0.16″ is still my January monthly total and also my year-to-date total for 2019.
My current online data (except for rainfall/snowfall – use the cocorahs link shown below for that dataset) is showing regularly on Weather Underground. My data is posted there every 5 minutes. My ID is KMDROCKV200 and my station is called “Gardens of Traville.” Data is online, normally just about in real-time now as it is being updated on a 5 minute interval. The web address for my data on weather underground is:
https://www.wunderground.com/personal-weather-station/dashboard?ID=KMDROCKV200
I contribute my precipitation data daily to CoCoRaHS as Rockville 2.8 WNW, Station ID MD-MG-115 on https://www.cocorahs.org/
Please remember that Weather Underground precipitation data reflects what is recorded automatically through the tipping bucket VP2 gauge, just as it does on WxLink 2.0. The tipping bucket is producing erratic values so should not be used save for general precipitation timing. For example recently the bucket recorded 5.62″ for the day, clearly a significantly higher amount when compared to my 4 inch gauge total that day (3.24″). I actually use the data I post to CoCoRaHS from my 4 inch CoCoRaHS gauge I read manually as my “official” precipitation total each day.
Monday looks cloudy and colder, with temps holding in the 30s most of the day.
Tuesday looks partly cloudy and milder, with high temps in the mid-upper 50s and lows in the mid 30s.
Wednesday should be cloudy and cooler with a chance of light rain or drizzle with highs in the low 40s and lows in the mid-upper 20s.
Thursday and Friday look to be partly cloudy and colder, with highs in the mid 30s and lows in the low-mid 20s.
Sunday’s midnight observations include a temperature of 38.2°, relative humidity 64%, barometric pressure 30.36″ and rising, with a dew point of 26.7° under clear skies.
Currently at 0420 the temperature is 32.9°, dew point temperature 25°, relative humidity 74%, and the barometric pressure at 30.43″ and rising under clear skies. Temps are dropping through the 30s overnight under clear skies and light winds.
Good morning from the Walrus on this clear Monday morning.
