A mostly cloudy, seasonably mild, dry update for West Rockville, Maryland for Thursday January 3, 2019

Thursday was mostly cloudy and still seasonably mild  though temps did cool to near the freezing mark in the late evening.  I have not had a freezing min since a week ago, on December 27.  Mild temps look to continue for the foreseeable future. The temperatures ranged from the mid-upper 40s in the early afternoon down to the mid 30s by the very end of the day.

The maximum temperature was 47.0° at 1327.

The minimum temperature was 33.7° at 2359.

Dew point temperatures ranged from a high of 40° @ 0831 down to a low of 30° @ 2220.

Relative humidity values ranged from a high of 88% @ 0646 down to a low of 57% @ 1309.

Barometric pressure ranged from a low of 29.93″ @ 0503 up to a high of 30.11″ @ 2148

Thursday had no rain. 0.01″ is my January monthly total so far and also my year-to-date total for 2019.

My current online data (except for rainfall/snowfall – use the cocorahs link shown below for that dataset) is showing regularly on Weather Underground. My data is posted there every 5 minutes. My ID is KMDROCKV200 and my station is called “Gardens of Traville.” Data is online, normally just about in real-time now as it is being updated on a 5 minute interval. The web address for my data on weather underground is:
https://www.wunderground.com/personal-weather-station/dashboard?ID=KMDROCKV200

I contribute my precipitation data daily to CoCoRaHS as Rockville 2.8 WNW, Station ID MD-MG-115 on https://www.cocorahs.org/

Please remember that Weather Underground precipitation data reflects what is recorded automatically through the tipping bucket VP2 gauge, just as it does on WxLink 2.0. The tipping bucket is producing erratic values so should not be used save for general precipitation timing. For example recently the bucket recorded 5.62″ for the day, clearly a significantly higher amount when compared to my 4 inch gauge total that day (3.24″). I actually use the data I post to CoCoRaHS from my 4 inch CoCoRaHS gauge I read manually as my “official” precipitation total each day.

Friday looks cloudy with rain developing by late afternoon; temps holding in the 40s.

Saturday looks rainy with highs in the upper 40s and lows in the upper 30s.

Sunday should turn sunny with highs in the upper 40s and lows in the upper 20s.

Monday looks cloudy and colder, with temps holding in the 30s most of the day.

Thursday’s midnight observations include a temperature of 33.7°, relative humidity 87%, barometric pressure 30.08″ and falling, with a dew point of 30.2° under partly cloudy skies.

Currently at 0520 the temperature is 32.7°, dew point temperature 30°, relative humidity 90%,
and the barometric pressure at 30.08″ and steady under fair skies.

Good morning from the Walrus on this fair Friday morning.
