Saturday was a cloudy, milder, very wet day with flooding rains (3.24″) at times in the area. Today was the third wettest calendar day in 2018, only surpassed by the 4.02″ that fell on July 21 and the 3.92″ that fell on August 21. High temps reached the upper low 50s mark after another mild early AM min in the mid 40s. Temperatures have cooled off a bit during the overnight, from the upper 40s to the mid 40s with fog, clouds and occasional rain continuing at times . 

The maximum temperature was 53.2° at 1547.

The minimum temperature was 44.9° at 0001.

Dew point temperatures ranged from a low of 43° @ 0000 up to a high of 52° @ 1429.

Relative humidity values ranged from a low of 94% @ 0000 up to a high of 96% @ 0213.

Barometric pressure ranged from a high of 30.21″ @ 0000 down to a low of 29.92″ @ 2342.

3.24″ of rain and drizzle fell on Saturday. December 2018 now has a total of 3.97″ of precipitation (liquid water equivalent) . The year-to-date precipitation is now 62.78″. These amounts will continue to change over the rest of the weekend. The QPF (Quantative Precipitation Forecast) for my location is still a bit over an inch of rain on Sunday. Unfortunately snow is not in future forecasts for the foreseeable future.

For now, I am working on a better link to get my VP2 data on Weatherlink. I migrated over to Weatherlink 2.0 and my data isn’t so easy to find securely. Weather Underground should be used. My data is posted there every 5-10 minutes. My ID is KMDROCKV200 and my station is called “Gardens of Traville.”  Data is online, normally just about in real-time now as the posting interval is now more frequent, once every five minutes. Please remember that Weather Underground precipitation data reflects what is recorded automatically through the tipping bucket VP2 gauge, just as it does on WxLink 2.0. The tipping bucket is producing erratic values. For example on Saturday it recorded 5.62″ for the day, clearly a significantly higher amount when compared to my 4 inch gauge. I actually use the data I post to CoCoRaHS from my 4 inch CoCoRaHS gauge I read manually as my “official” precipitation total each day.

Area Flood Warnings continue in place in the region through most of Sunday.

Sunday rain showers continue (90 POP) and cooler, with highs in the low-mid 40s and lows in the mid 30s.

Monday should turn sunny with high temps in the upper 40s and lows in the upper 20s.

Tuesday should be sunny and colder, with highs in the low 40s and lows in the mid 20s.

Wednesday should be mostly sunny with high temps in the mid 40s and lows around freezing.

Thursday will turn cloudy with a 90 POP for rain, high tmps about 50° and lows in the mid 40s

Saturday’s midnight observations included a temperature of 48.6°, relative humidity 95%, barometric pressure 29.93″ and rising, with a dew point of 47.2° under cloudy, lightly raining skies.

Currently at 0840 the temperature is 43.0°, dew point temperature 42°, relative humidity 95%, and barometric pressure at 29.91″ and rising under cloudy, light rainy skies. During the overnight, temperatures fell a bit from the upper 40s at obs to the upper-low 40s under cloudy, occasional lightly raining skies.
