A mostly sunny, early AM cold, milder PM, dry update from West Rockville, Maryland for Tuesday, December 11 2018
Tuesday was cold in the early AM, but then turned milder in the PM under mostly sunny skies, with temperatures starting out in the low 20s then rising into the low 40s by mid-afternoon. Temperatures slid back down after sunset to around the freezing mark at observation time, but rose again in the overnight into the mid 30s during the overnight. I spent a good part of the day at the “Wound Care Clinic” at the Kaiser facility in Kensington that bandaged up and treated my swollen, water-logged legs with many changes ahead to my routine to improve my leg circulation and drain the excess fluid from them. My friend Marty took me there, took pictures, made copious notes and then fixed my tipping bucket rain gauge (failed connection).
The maximum temperature was 41.9° at 1532.
The minimum temperature was 22.3° at 0737.
Dew point temperatures ranged from a low of 19° @ 0734 up to a high of 27° @ 1040.
Relative humidity values ranged from a high of 90% @ 0755 down to a low of 43% @ 1424.
Barometric pressure ranged from a high of 30.23″ @ 0000 down to a low of 30.04″ @ 1726.
No rain or snow fell on Tuesday. December 2018 still has a total of 0.44″ of precipitation (liquid water equivalent) . The year-to-date precipitation is still 59.25″.
For now, I am working on a better link to get my VP2 data on Weatherlink. I migrated over to Weatherlink 2.0 and my data isn’t so easy to find securely. Weather Underground should be used. My data is posted there every 5-10 minutes. My ID is KMDROCKV200 and my station is called “Gardens of Traville.” Data is online, normally just about in real-time. The web address for my data on weather underground is:
https://www.wunderground.com/personal-weather-station/dashboard?ID=KMDROCKV200
I contribute daily to CoCoRaHS as Rockville 2.8 WNW, Station ID MD-MG-115 on https://www.cocorahs.org/
Please remember that Weather Underground precipitation data reflects what is recorded automatically through the tipping bucket VP2 gauge, just as it does on WxLink 2.0. The tipping bucket is producing erratic values when compared with my 4 inch gauge. I actually use the data I post to CoCoRaHS from my 4 inch CoCoRaHS gauge I read manually as my “official” precipitation total each day.
Wednesday looks to be mostly cloudy and seasonably cold, with highs in the low 40s and lows in the lower 30s.
Thursday looks mostly sunny and a tad milder, with high temps in the mid 40s and lows around the freezing mark.
Friday looks cloudy and cool, with a 100 POP for PM rain, temps holding in the low-mid 40s all day.
On Saturday we have an 80 POP for some unseasonable thunderstorms (and associated rain) with highs in the low 50s and lows in the upper 30s.
Sunday should have some AM showers (30 POP) but clear out in the PM, with highs in the mid 40s and lows around freezing.
Tuesday’s midnight observations included a temperature of 31.4°, relative humidity 68%, barometric pressure 30.09″ and rising, and a dew point of 22.1° under partly cloudy skies.
Currently at 0556 the temperature is 34.6°, dew point temperature 25°, relative humidity 67%, and barometric pressure at 30.18″ and rising under mostly cloudy skies. During the overnight, temperatures rose a bit into the mid 30s under increasingly cloudy skies.
Good morning from the Walrus early on this Wednesday.
