A partly cloudy, not quite as cold, dry update from West Rockville, Maryland for Monday, December 10 2018

Monday was the calm day after the near-miss snow of Sunday, with clouds decreasing and temperatures rising a bit but still cold, with temperatures starting out in the upper-mid 20s then rising into the upper-mid 30s by mid-afternoon. Temperatures slid back down after sunset into the upper 20s, and into the low 20s during the overnight.

The maximum temperature was 37.1° at 1427.

The minimum temperature was 27.2° at 0244.

Dew point temperatures ranged from a low of 18° @ 0507 up to a high of 26° @ 1459.

Relative humidity values ranged from a low of 62% @ 1351 up to a high of 83% @ 2354.

Barometric pressure ranged from a low of 30.12″ @ 0340 up to a high of 30.24″ @ 1020.

No rain or snow fell on Monday. December 2018 still has a total of 0.44″ of precipitation (liquid water equivalent) . The year-to-date precipitation is still 59.25″.

For now, I am working on a better link to get my VP2 data on Weatherlink. I migrated over to Weatherlink 2.0 and my data isn’t so easy to find securely. Weather Underground should be used. My data is posted there every 5-10 minutes. My ID is KMDROCKV200 and my station is called “Gardens of Traville.” Data is online, normally just about in real-time. The web address for my data on weather underground is:

https://www.wunderground.com/personal-weather-station/dashboard?ID=KMDROCKV200

I contribute daily to CoCoRaHS as Rockville 2.8 WNW, Station ID MD-MG-115 on https://www.cocorahs.org/

Please remember that Weather Underground precipitation data reflects what is recorded automatically through the tipping bucket VP2 gauge, just as it does on WxLink 2.0. The tipping bucket is producing erratic values when compared with my 4 inch gauge. I actually use the data I post to CoCoRaHS from my 4 inch CoCoRaHS gauge I read manually as my “official” precipitation total each day.

Tuesday should be sunny and a tad warmer with highs around 40° and lows in the mid 20s.

Wednesday looks to be mostly cloudy and seasonably cold, with highs in the low 40s and lows in the lower 20s.

Thursday looks mostly cloudy and a tad milder, with high temps in the lower-mid 40s and lows around the freezing mark.

Friday looks cloudy and milder, with a 90 POP for PM light rain, temps holding in the mid-upper 40s all day.

On Saturday we may have a 90 POP for some unseasonable thunderstorms  (and associated showers) with highs in the lower 50s and lows in the mid-upper 30s.

Monday’s midnight observations included a temperature of 27.8°, relative humidity 83%, barometric pressure 30.23″ and steady, and a dew point of 23.3° under clear skies.

Currently at 0534 the temperature is 23.9°, dew point temperature 21°, relative humidity 89%,
and barometric pressure at 30.21″ and fallng under clear skies. During the overnight, temperatures dropped a bit into the lower 20s under clear skies.

Good morning from the Walrus early on this Tuesday.
