A partly cloudy, comfortable, dry update for West Rockville Maryland for Thursday September 7 2017
Thursday was a partly cloudy, pleasant, drying out day. There was a bit of light fog in the early AM, along with some spotty drizzle (Trace amount for the day). High temperatures reached around the 70° mark for highs with lows in the mid 50s. Dew points were in the 50s all day. Now at 0535 we have clear skies with temperatures in the comfortable low-mid 50s with dew points in the low 50s. The Wednesday minimum temperature from the VP2 in the shelter on the ground below my balcony (56.1°) was recorded at 0716 while the maximum temperature (69.8°) was recorded at 1423. Dew point temps lowered today, ranging from 59° down to 50°. Relative humidity values lowered from yesterday (98% – 52%). Barometric values rose from yesterday’s values, ranging from 29.91″ at 0331 up to 30.09″ at 2347.
Remember now you can get the ground-based VP2 data on Weatherlink. You can access the data through http://www.weatherlink.com/user/walrusman444
I rose in the mid-afternoon to shower and make a few item purchase from the official cocorahs store at weatheryourway.com through Lucy P there. Right after that transaction, Ray called and we spoke for a while. I also spoke with Robin briefly in the evening via Face Time, and the usual entertaining glimpses of Gideon’s bathtub action. Additionally I spoke with my sister in Michigan to update her on our relatives down in Florida about their hurricane prep plans and find out how they are doing (I spoke with our relatives on Wednesday evening). After my shower I microwaved two small egg, cheese and sausage-stuffed hash browns that were remarkably good – first time I ever had that combination before. I did some email and facebook work and watched an exciting NFL opening season game, won by Kansas City 42-27 over the Super Bowl champ New England Patriots. Later on I made a brief supper of a grilled turkey and cheese sandwich, along with some sides of marinated mushrooms, pepperoncini, kimchee, and potato/macaroni salads. Later on I finished off the cashews.. I will be getting many new supplies early Friday evening from Safeway grocery delivery. I had some prune and spicy low-sodium V8 juices right around dinner time, and plenty of water and vitamins throughout the evening.
We now have clear skies with temperatures in the low-mid 50s at 0535 Friday. Friday through Monday should be mostly sunny with only a few scattered clouds at times, highs in the low 70s and lows in the low 50s through Sunday and lows in the mid 50s on Monday. The remnant rains of Irma may be coming in on Tuesday, with temps in the 60s under cloudy, rainy skies. Right now it looks like Irma will strike southern FL as a Cat 4 hurricane, and then run right up the spine of the state and move northward into Georgia and into the eastern parts of the Midwest as the week progresses. Stay tuned for updates.
On Weatherbug at 0535 the radar is showing showers over parts of the Great Lakes states, but staying to my north as it moves generally eastward.
As of 0535 EDT, the data from the VP2 (coming from the ground radiation shield about 4 feet off the ground just under and out from the balcony), the Lakewood WXBug station and the USG VP2 station across the street are as follows :

There was a trace of rain recorded on Thursday (cocorahs gauge – now located off the apartment property across the street from my initial two locations just off the inactive putting green – near the Montessori School playground. No sprinklers there at all on this county property). My VP2 rain gauge recorded 0.01″ of rain. My records showed that this 0.01″ fell at 1300. Not so sure that that is accurate.
August precipitation was 4.39″ (believe this is in error – I will have to research the numbers in the next few days)
September precipitation through midnight obs tonight is 2.44″.
Year-to-date (YTD) precipitation total is 33.74″

There was no rain recorded once again in the USG gauge on Thursday. There probably still is a major blockage of some sort in the gauge. Not sure how that is going to get fixed and when, unfortunately.
