A partly to mostly cloudy, dry, and cooler weather update for West Rockville Maryland for Friday September 1 2017

Friday started the month of September with mostly cooler, drier, and partly cloudy conditions most of the day, then cloudy in the evening, ahead of our next rain system (Harvey remnants) on Saturday. It was dry all day, but showers were on our doorstep by days close. The high temperature for the day barely reached the 70° mark at the very beginning of the day, with 60s temps predominating most of the day, with dew points dropping from the 60s into the 40s by afternoon. Now at 0641 we have cloudy skies with light rain (0.10″ in my VP2 since midnight) with temperatures in the mid-upper 50s with dew points in the mid 50s. The Thursday minimum temperature from the VP2 in the shelter on the ground nearby (59.3°) was recorded at 0405 while the maximum temperature (70.1°) was recorded at 0000. Dew point temps dropped today, ranging from 63° down to 46°. Relative humidity values were lower than yesterday (84% – 56%). Barometric values rose today from yesterday, ranging from 30.20″ at 1122 down to 30.02″ at 0015.

I rose in the early afternoon as I once again had a busy day. My Friday therapy early afternoon session was postponed till late Saturday morning, as Dr confirmation had still not come in as of 1400. I had my usual rummikub game at 1500, ending a bit early around 1635, as we only had a table of three players and one of two players where I was playing with Mary. I had some cereal and coffee for a late brunch after the game, besides talking with Tracy on her way to work, and a nice msg exchange with Gregg, who is trying to get me into a free fantasy football pool. Just before the game Mike came over to bring my goodies from Tracy, a smoked bbq meatloaf and some mexican rice, both of which I had for dinner later. I also got my mail on the way up from the game, where I got a delivery of kimchee, that I also had for dinner – a nice combination of flavors with the meatloaf and also some huy fong srichaca sauce. . I spoke with Robin twice over the evening and also both Marty and Ray at some length in the evening/early morning hours about several weather and other topics. I had the opening game of the college football season for my alma mater, the University of Wisconsin/Madison in a home game against Utah State. After a rough 10-0 losing first quarter, the Badgers stormed back with 59 unanswered points to win going away 59-10. GO BADGERS! I had some prune and spicy low-sodium V8 juices just before dinner, and plenty of water and vitamins (I got them delivered on Friday) later on.

We now have cloudy, light rainy skies (0.10″ of rain in my VP2 gauge since midnight obs) with temperatures in the upper 50s at 0641 Saturday. On Saturday continued cool temps staying in the 60°-65° range with clouds and a 100 POP for rain as the Harvey remnants move through our area. I don’t think the rain will be particularly heavy or cause any flooding as it looks now. On Sunday sun should return at least partially, with high temps in the upper 70s and lows around 60°. Labor Day Monday should warm up even more into the low 80s, with lows in the lower 60s under sunny skies. Tuesday should be warmer still with highs in the upper 80s and lows in the mid 60s with partly cloudy skies.

On Weatherbug radar at 0641 the radar is showing rain moving through our region now, moving from the SW towards the NE.
