A partly sunny, cooler, mostly dry weather update for West Rockville Maryland for Thursday August 24 2017

Thursday featured partly to mostly cloudy skies, cooler temperatures and pleasant dew point temperatures. High temperatures only reached the upper 70s, with dew points in the lower 60s and upper 50s. Now at 0452 we have mostly cloudy skies with 0.11″ of rain falling since midnight in the USG gauge, and 0.09″ falling in my VP2 gauge. Rain has stopped for now. I don’t think we will have any more the rest of the day. Temperatures are in the mid 60s with dew points in the lower 60s. The Thursday minimum temperature from the VP2 in the shelter on the ground nearby (65.8°) was recorded at 0340 while the maximum temperature (78.8°) was recorded at 1453. Dew point temps dropped a bit more today, ranging from 62° down to 56°. Relative humidity values lowered a bit today (84% – 48%). Barometric values rose somewhat today, ranging from 29.90″ at 0227 up to 30.00″ at 2359.

I rose mid-afternoon today to the phone call of Tracy who was on her way to work. I took a shower to get refreshed then I had cereal, banana, and coffee by late afternoon before the weekly trivia game at 1830. I also spoke briefly with Ray before trivia. I worked a bit more on my backlog of climate data and data publishing at times during the evening. I also watched the thrilling conclusion to the Nats/Astros baseball game, won by Washington 5-4. I had a quick dinner of seafood and crab salad on a bagel, along with some potato and orzo salads. I had some spicy low-sodium V8 around dinner time and much later snacked on a few cashews. I had my usual water intake and vitamins and medicines that I take every day.

We now have mostly cloudy skies and temperatures in the mid 60s at 0452. Cooler temps the rest of the week through the weekend, with highs in the mid-upper 70s Friday through Monday with lows in the upper 50s to around 60°on Friday, Saturday and Sunday nights. It should be sunny to partly cloudy with lower dew points that should make things fairly comfortable. There is the beginning of talk about the current busy tropical activity in the Gulf of Mexico perhaps coming up to our area for a visit late next week. Too far out in time to be sure of that, but the speculation has started based on the longer term forecast models.

On Channel 4 radar at 0452 the showers we had earlier from just after midnight till about 0230 or so have moved away, off to the east. It appears clear to my west.
