A sunny,, a bit cooler and drier weather update for West Rockville Maryland for Sunday August 20 2017

Sunday was sunny and a bit cooler, a fairly pleasant day with lower dew points than we have been having. No rain fell today with no storms in the area that I know of. Now at 0600 we have cloudy skies with temps in the low 70s with dew point temperatures rising the past several hours into the upper 60s. The Sunday minimum temperature from the VP2 in the shelter on the ground nearby (66.3°) was recorded at 0632 while the maximum temperature (83.5°) was recorded at 1545. Dew point temps lowered more today ranging from 67° down to 58°. Relative humidity values lowered today (87% – 43%). Barometric values rose today, ranging from 29.98″ at 0007 to 30.18″ at 2222.

Remember now you can get the new ground-based VP2 data on Weatherlink. You can access the data through http://www.weatherlink.com/user/walrusman444

I rose a bit late again today, though I did take a few calls in bed from Ray (twice). I had a bowl of cereal and a banana with coffee soon after I got up in the late afternoon. A bit later I tried out the Jimmy Dean version of the sausage egg McMuffin (but with a biscuit instead of an English Muffin). I got some email and weather database work done, along with GLOBE observer training so I could hopefully make GLOBE weather observations during the eclipse on Monday. I also talked with Robin in the evening, and watched most of the SummerSlam wrestling show. I had a late dinner of a toasted bagel sandwich of leftover skirt steak and a grilled portobello mushroom and hot pepper cheese, garnished with huy fong sriracha sauce on one half and chipotle mayo on the other half with a small side of orzo and potato salad. It was delicious! Also had a few triscuits. I had my usual water intake and vitamins and medicines that I take every day.

We now have mostly cloudy skies with temperatures in the low 70s at 0600. The outlook for Eclipse Monday appears to be a bit unsettled, though it should be at least partly cloudy at the time of peak eclipse (1442 EDT, 82% of totality) but with thunderstorms possible later in the afternoon (60 POP) with highs in the mid 80s and partly to mostly cloudy skies. Lows should be in the low 70s. Tuesday should be partly cloudy and hot, with highs in the low 90s and lows in the low 70s. Cooler temps the rest of the week, with highs in the low 80s on Wednesday and around 80° on Thursday with lows around 60° under scattered to at most partly cloudy skies. Upper 70s and upper 50s for pleasant highs and lows under partly cloudy skies to wrap up the week on Friday.

On Channel 4 radar at 0600 we are void of precipitation in the four state mid-Atlantic region. Some light showers are falling in east-central IN and west-central OH at this time, along with a large area of rain in a good part of Iowa.
