A partly cloudy, hot_humid but only slightly wet/stormy weather update for West Rockville Maryland for Friday August 18 2017

Thursday was partly to mostly cloudy, hot, humid but still amazingly dry save for light showers (0.07″) in the evening about 1840. I heard thunder earlier in the afternoon from time to time. Storms were really rocking in the area, but missing my area, despite radar showing strong echoes right over my area at times.  Earlier we got some sun, rocking the  temperatures to over the 90° mark after early morning low temperatures in the warm, muggy mid 70s. Now at 0655 we have clear skies with temps in the low 70s with muggy dew point temperatures in the upper 60s. The Friday minimum temperature from the VP2 in the shelter on the ground nearby (75.2°) was recorded at 2358 while the maximum temperature (91.6°) was recorded at 1426.  Dew point temps rose even more today to more gross levels, ranging from 73° up to 81°. My friend Marty suggested to me that the heavy sprinkling the apt mgmt does in the shrubbery and on the grass cause these even higher dew points than in other nearby areas. Relative humidity values were about the same as yesterday (97% – 64%).  Barometric values lowered today, ranging from 29.73″ at 1755 to 29.90″ at 0000.

Remember now you can get the new ground-based VP2 data on Weatherlink.  You can access the data through http://www.weatherlink.com/user/walrusman444
I was a bit under the weather today and with the weekly rummikub game having limited participation this week, I slept most of the day. I had bathroom problems and get some things messed up, necessitating a huge load of laundry (for me that is) to be done. I collected myself after a partial shower to clean myself up, then had a turkey breast sandwich with hot pepper cheese and huy fong sriracha sauce (my latest fav garnish) along with the rest of the potato and orzo salads plus the usual prune juice and spicy V8 juice, along with some pepperoncini.. Running out of a lot of items I could not fill with my recent Fresh Direct order, I got an order together for Safeway, and it will be delivered late afternoon/early evening on Saturday.  I also spoke briefly with Tracy, Marty and Ray on the phone in the later afternoon (Tracy) and mid-evening (Marty and Ray). I did plenty of email work, and other miscellaneous activities.  I had my usual water intake and vitamins and medicines that I take every day.

We now have clear skies, with temperatures in the low 70s at 0655. Saturday and Sunday look mostly sunny and warm, with highs in the upper-mid 80s and lows in the mid 60s and virtually no chance for rain except for a 50 POP for possible showers/thunderstorms Saturday evening. Right now the outlook for Eclipse Monday appears to be unsettled now, with highs in the mid 80s and a 60 POP for showers/storms under partly cloudy skies.

On Channel 4 radar at 0655 we are void of precipitation in most of the land masses of the Eastern U.S. Some showers are lying off sections of the Atlantic coast.
