A partly cloudy, warmer and wet/stormy weather update for West Rockville Maryland for Saturday August 12 2017
Saturday was a partly sunny, warm, humid day through mid-afternoon, then a cloudy, wet/stormy later afternoon, then clearing off slowly through the evening. Temperatures rose a bit into the mid 80s with more sun early, then trailed off with the clouds and rain (0.60″, USG VP2 max rain rate 1.87″/hour @ 1912) after an early morning low temperature in the upper 60s. Severe thunderstorm and flood warnings were once again announced several times today, over much of the DC/Baltimore region. Now at 0614 we have partly cloudy skies and more comfortable temps in the mid 60s but with high dew point temperatures also in the mid 60s. The Wednesday minimum temperature from the VP2 in the shelter on the ground nearby (68.7°) was recorded at 0349 while the maximum temperature (83.9°) was recorded at 1441. Dew point temps rose a bit more today, ranging from 68° up to 76°. Relative humidity values also raised a bit today (98% – 71%). Barometric values lowered today, ranging from 29.97″ at 0026 to 29.84″ at 1836.

I got up in the late afternoon after talking with Ray and Tracy on the phone. The thunderstorm activity really got me going as I was checking on warnings, radar and reports on the weather radio, the weather channel and the internet. I worked on a good bit of email with Marty, and with Robin/Gideon interacting on face-time. I watched some of the late starting Nats/Giants game, delayed 3 hours by the rain/storms. I ate a big plate of corned beef hash, eggs, mushrooms and melted shredded cheese, along with a toasted everything bagel. Yum Yum! Just had regular low sodium V8 juice today. Later in the evening I snacked on some leftover ravioli and sauce from Ledo’s, the last of the leftovers from Robin’s visit. I also had a few triscuits. I had my usual water intake and vitamins and medicines that I take every day.
We now have partly cloudy skies, with temperatures in the mid 60s as are the dew points, yielding almost 100% relative humidity values at 0614. Sunday through Wednesday should see scattered to at most partly cloudy skies, highs in the mid 80s, lows in the mid-upper 60s with only a 10-20 POP for an isolated shower.
On Channel 4 radar at 0614 shows our earlier rain has moved south and east, over southern VA and sections of coastal NC at this time.
