WEST ROCKVILLE MARYLAND WEATHER UPDATE – SATURDAY AUGUST 28, 2021

Saturday was partly cloudy, not quite as hot but still humid with the typical building cumulus in the later afternoon that developed into thunderstorms in the evening with severe storm warnings posted in my immediate area from about 1900-2000 but only yielded muted thunder and lightning and only light rain (0.01″). We reached the upper 80s for highs with dew points similarly high as yesterday, ranging up to the upper 70s. We peaked with our max temperature (87.2) of the day in the earlier mid-afternoon, just a bit ahead of the cloud buildups. The low temperature for the day (in the low 70s) was reached in the early morning hours about 1/2 hour before sunrise.

The peak wind gust for the day (14 MPH) was quite a bit lighter than the record PWG yesterday, “peaking” in the later stages of the mid-afternoon and veering over to an easterly direction. Barometric pressures were highest in the late evening while the lowest were in the early morning/overnight hours.

Sunday looks to be partly cloudy but mostly dry, slightly cooler with highs in the mid 80s and lows in the low 70s. Partly cloudy skies should follow Monday and Tuesday, with highs cooling from the low 90s on Monday to the mid 80s on Tuesday with increasing chances of showers and storms. Wednesday and Thursday should be cooler with highs in the 70s and lows in the low-mid 60s with showers prevalent as the remnants of tropical system Ida potentially gives us quite a wet kickoff to the month of September.
