WEST ROCKVILLE MARYLAND WEATHER UPDATE – THURSDAY AUGUST 19, 2021

Thursday turned warmer and drier but with only a bit lower dew points under partly cloudy skies. We peaked with our warmer max temperature (87.7) of the day in the later mid- afternoon time period, along with dew points in the mid 70s. The low temperature for the day (in the lower mid 70s) was reached about an hour after sunrise.

The peak winds (21 MPH) decreased to moderate levels, peaking midday while veering to a slightly drier northwesterly direction. Barometric pressures were highest  during the morning hours while the lowest were in the early evening hours.

Shower/storm chances increase again on Friday and Saturday with cooler max temps in the upper 70s on Friday but warming up to the mid 80s on Saturday with lows in the upper 60s under partly to mostly cloudy skies. Sunday and Monday look partly cloudy, dry and seasonable, with highs in the mid-upper 80s and lows in the upper 60s.

Currently at 0205 AM EDT Friday we have cloudy skies, a temperature of 75.4, barometer 29.94″ and falling, relative humidity 93%, dew point 73, winds WNW-NNW at 0-10 MPH. No rain so far has fallen since midnight into the tipping bucket VP2 gauge at the USG site across the street from me.

The attached image for today shows a very rainy parking lot with associated storm clouds at my Doctor’s office midday Wednesday (8/18) associated with our tropical shower activity at that time.
