Currently at 0541 AM EDT Friday partly cloudy skies with the temperature at 47.7, barometer 30.25″ and steady, relative humidity 79% , dew point 42 , winds N at about 1-4 MPH. No rain has fallen since midnight into the tipping bucket VP2 gauge at the USG site across the street from me.

Today’s feature image is one taken around sunset Sunday evening looking west highlighting my “official cocorahs 4-inch rain gauge” through the generally cloudy, dry skies at the time showing a very green groundcover. The “holly” adorning the rain gauge mount is, however, artificial.

  1. I explained in my post what the picture was of. It is my cocorahs rain gauge. Perhaps you are confused by the accompanying custom holder mount for the gauge to keep it free standing/upright. My friend Marty built that rigid tubular plastic structure for me to have continuously good exposure to the elements out in the open for accurate collection and to keep it securely upright.

Let me know if you have any further questions about what you are seeing. I attached what might be a better/clearer picture of the entire structure in a separate email to you. .

Thanks for asking. I get very few questions about any of my weather together posts.

    Have a great day!

    Kevin
