The rains from the remains of Tropical System “Zeta” as recorded on Thursday, October 29, 2020 at West Rockville Maryland

The 1.86 inches of rain I recorded at my station on Thursday, October 29, 2020 was my third wettest day of the year, only surpassed by the amounts of 1.91” on August 4 and 2.89” on April 13.  My October total precipitation is now 3.09” which is almost normal after what had been quite a dry month for the first 28 days of the month, and a year-to-date total of 44.36” which is already at about the normal yearly average amount.

Rain developed quickly in the morning with my greatest rainfall rates unofficially recorded in the late morning hours between about 1000 and 1130. Winds were quite unimpressive, as the peak wind gust (PWG) for the day was only 19 MPH from the E recorded at 3:41 PM. Flooding was limited in the region and I didn’t observe any at my location while awake.

Temperatures were moderate during the day, reaching a high value of 62.4 at 2 minutes after midnight, with the low of 49.7 reached almost 24 hours later at 11:56 PM. Barometric pressure dropped to a low of 29.39” for the day at 3:07 PM.
