Post Thanksgiving report – End of November cloudy, seasonably cool Friday and Saturday, November 29-30, 2019 and cloudy, a bit colder, wet beginning of December update for Sunday, December 1, 2019 from West Rockville Maryland

I apologize for the delay in posting this report. Yesterday, I had problems with the edit screen here on Weather Together for this report as the inner workings through Word Press was in the process of getting updated. Now that the edit screen has been restored, so I can post this three day report here on Weather Together. I have edited the original report (which I posted to many yesterday on email and facebook) slightly to reflect current conditions, in conjunction with my Monday report that will follow this report.

Friday

Friday cooled off during the daylight hours a bit, with the high temperature (upper mid 40s) for the day reached in the mid-afternoon under partly to mostly cloudy skies after continued mild, above freezing mins in the early AM in the mid 30s. There was no precipitation on Friday.

Saturday

The end of the month Saturday was a bit cooler (lower mid 40s for mid-afternoon highs) with mild early AM mins in the upper mid 30s. It was mostly cloudy for the better part of the day ahead of Sunday’s rain, with some rain approaching late out to my west by the end of the day. Dew points remained in the 20s all day,
maxing out in the upper 20s in the early AM and dropping into the mid 20s by early afternoon.

The maximum temperature was 43.9 degrees at 1455.

There was no precipitation on Friday. My November monthly final total precipitation is 1.54 inches. That is 2.04 inches below the normal of 3.58 inches.

My November monthly final total snowfall is a trace. That is about 1/2 inch below normal.

The year-to-date precipitation total is 43.11 inches. That is 4.30 inches above the normal through 11/30 of 38.81 inches.

My current downstairs station data is now showing regularly on Weather Underground. My data is posted there every 5 minutes. My ID is KMDROCKV200 and my station is called Gardens of Traville. Data is online, available in real-time as it is being updated on a 5 minute interval. The web address for my data on weather underground is:
https://www.wunderground.com/personal-weather-station/dashboard?ID=KMDROCKV200

I contribute my precipitation data daily to CoCoRaHS as Rockville 2.8 WNW, Station ID MD-MG-115 and can be found on the web at https://www.cocorahs.org

Please remember that my Weather Underground precipitation data reflects what is recorded automatically through the tipping bucket VP2 gauge, just as it does on WxLink 2.0. The tipping bucket has been producing erratic values on most days (when I have had rain that is) so should not be used except for general precipitation timing.

I actually use the data I post to CoCoRaHS from my 4 inch CoCoRaHS gauge I read manually as my official precipitation total each day.

Friday was a laid back day, with an impromptu rummikub game in the evening downstairs and somehow getting the energy to put together a pot of white bean leftover turkey chili for dinner, after a bowl of cereal, banana and coffee for brunch.

Saturday was a big college football day, with my beloved Wisconsin Badgers playing the Minnesota Golden Gophers for Paul Bunyan’s Axe and the championship of the Big Ten West. An added visual bonus during the game was the playing conditions in a snowstorm. With the Badgers winning 38-17 it just doesn’t get any better than that. That was the late afternoon game. The first game of the day was another traditional Big 10 rivalry game, won by Ohio State big over Michigan 56-27. Ohio State had already clinched the Big 10 East so they were playing for a lot of pride. Now in a week on December 7 the Badgers will be playing Ohio State for the Big 10 Championship and the right to go to the college football playoffs, or the Rose Bowl (at least). Both teams will be going to major bowl games.

Sunday

Sunday started off December on a wet note, with moderate rain at times with highs in the low 40s and lows in the upper mid 30s with a very sloppy Ravens game in Baltimore as one of the results of the inclement weather. The Ravens won the game over the 49ers 20-17 on a last second field goal in a very exciting, well-played game. I finished up the chili and more of the turkey and other leftovers for lunch and dinner. Part of the evening was spent watching the very thrilling Houston Texans defeat of the New England Patriots 28-22 in the lone star state. I also saw a bit of the Giants-Packers game up at MetLife Stadium in northern New Jersey in more beautifully falling snow during the game.

The maximum temperature was 42.5 degrees at 1640.

The minimum temperature was 37.0 degrees at 2106.

The dew point temperatures ranged from a low of 23 degrees @ 0005 up to a high of 41 degrees @ 1550.

The relative humidity values ranged from a low of 49% @ 0005 up to a high of 95% @ 1251.

The barometric pressure ranged from a high of 30.01 inches @ 0024 down to a low of 29.52 inches @ 1756.

The highest daily peak wind gust recorded across the street on the roof of the new USG building was 16 MPH at 1117 from the NNE.

There was 0.39 inches of precipitation on Sunday. My December monthly total precipitation so far is 0.39 inches.

My seasonal total snowfall so far is a trace. That is about 1/2 inch below normal. The year-to-date precipitation total is 43.50 inches.

Monday should continue this pattern with clouds and lighter rain falling, It will be still relatively cold, with highs in the low 40s and lows in the low 30s. There is a chance for mixed types of precipitation at times (a possible combination of snow, freezing rain, sleet, rain) but it will be light if it does fall and should not accumulate on roads or sidewalks with just a slim chance of any sticking to the grass and car tops.

Partly to mostly sunny skies should return on Tuesday and Wednesday, with highs in the mid to upper 40s and lows in the low 30s.

Thursday through Saturday should be partly to mostly sunny, with lows in the upper 20s to lower 30s and highs varying somewhere in the 40s, tending towards the colder side by Saturday.

At Midnight Sunday, cloudy skies with a temperature of 37.4 degrees, relative humidity 93%, pressure rising at 29.58 inches with a dew point temperature of 36 degrees.

Please see the current conditions in my Monday post to get the latest update.
