Sunny, warmer AM cooler PM, drying out with dropping dew points update for Saturday, November 16, 2019 from West Rockville Maryland

Saturday was sunny with milder AM temps that changed to cooler PM temps as a dry cold front passed on through. High temperatures reached the lower mid 40s by mid afternoon after early AM min temps above freezing in the low 30s.  Dew point temperatures dropped from the upper 20s in the very early AM down to the 10 mark by mid-afternoon and staying in the mid teens the rest of the day.

The maximum temperature was 43.7 degrees at 1537.

The minimum temperature was 33.4 degrees at 0704.

The barometric pressure ranged from a low of 30.27 inches @ 0000 up to a high of 30.42 inches @ 0930.

The highest daily peak wind gust recorded across the street on the roof of the new USG building was 24 MPH that was recorded at 0902 from the E. Please remember that this anemometer is at a non-standard height of 60 feet above ground level (AGL), which can cause greater wind speeds than at the standard 33 feet AGL.

There was no precipitation on Saturday. My November monthly total precipitation is 0.25 inches. My November monthly total snowfall is a trace. The year-to-date precipitation total is 44.82 inches.

My current downstairs station data is now showing regularly on Weather Underground. My data is posted there every 5 minutes. My ID is KMDROCKV200 and my station is called Gardens of Traville. Data is online, available in real-time as it is being updated on a 5 minute interval. The web address for my data on weather underground is: https://www.wunderground.com/personal-weather-station/dashboard?ID=KMDROCKV200

I contribute my precipitation data daily to CoCoRaHS as Rockville 2.8 WNW, Station ID MD-MG-115 and can be found on the web at https://www.cocorahs.org

Please remember that my Weather Underground precipitation data reflects what is recorded automatically through the tipping bucket VP2 gauge, just as it does on WxLink 2.0. The tipping bucket has been producing erratic values on most days (when I have had rain that is) so should not be used except for general precipitation timing.

I actually use the data I post to CoCoRaHS from my 4 inch CoCoRaHS gauge I read manually as my official precipitation total each day.

Saturday was a big college football day. I had a big egg, cheese, sausage and mushroom omelette for my big brunch meal  on top of a toasted everything bagel, along with some spicy low sodium V8. My Wisconsin Badgers started off the game day with a 37-21 victory over the Cornhuskers of Lincoln Nebraska. They had a bit of a slow start, especially on defense, but once the Johnathan Taylor led offense got going they piled up the points and kept the ball away from the Nebraska offense a bit better in the second and third quarters. Later I watched a surprise upset by Iowa, beating previously undefeated Minnesota 23-19 which keeps the 8-2 Badgers in the hunt for the Big 10 West Title, only one game behind now 9-1 Minnesota.  Also watched the very exciting large comeback 34-31 win by 10th ranked Oklahoma over the  homestanding, previously undefeated Baylor Bears. Many more games were played in the evening, but I kind of napped through them and some hallmark Christmas movies.

Sunday and Monday should be cloudy with a coastal storm just offshore and highs in the mid-upper 40s and lows in the low-mid 30s. It will be breezy at times with light rain showers staying mostly south and east of my immediate area at times. This Sunday morning there are even winter weather advisories posted for the mountains of WV for freezing drizzle and light snow about 2000 feet till 1400.

Tuesday through Friday should be partly cloudy with moderating temperatures, highs in the low-mid 50s and lows in the low-mid 30s except mid 40s on Thursday.

At Midnight Saturday, clear skies with a temperature of 34.6 degrees, relative humidity 41%, pressure falling at 30.38 inches with a dew point temperature of 13 degrees.

Currently at 1012 EST Sunday the temperature is 37.3 degrees under cloudy (altostratus) skies (see featured image) , relative humidity at 62%, barometric pressure falling at 30.30 inches, and the dew point temperature at 25 degrees. Winds are averaging 7 MPH over the past 10 minutes from the E. Peak wind gust since midnight has been 17 MPH from the NE at 0354.

Good morning from the walrus on this chilly, cloudy Sunday.
