Partly sunny, still cold but moderating somewhat update for Thursday, November 14, 2019 from West Rockville Maryland
Thursday was partly to mostly sunny and still cold, but moderating some from yesterday’s very cold conditions. It was still quite below normal, and more typical of a January day rather than a day in mid-November. High temperatures were reached in the mid afternoon (low 40s) after early AM min temps in the mid 20s. Dew point temperatures were still low, but moderated similarly to the air temperature, rising from the upper teens in the early morning hours up to the mid 20s by later in the evening.
The maximum temperature was 40.9 degrees at 1425.
The minimum temperature was 25.1 degrees at 0600.
The dew point temperatures ranged from a low of 18 degrees @ 0600 up to a high of 26 degrees @ 2249.
The relative humidity values ranged from a high of 76% @ 0546 down to a low of 42% @ 1325.
The barometric pressure ranged from a high of 30.47 inches @ 0831 down to a low of 30.34 inches @ 2336.
The highest daily peak wind gust recorded across the street on the roof of the new USG building was 19 MPH that was recorded at 1309 from the S. Please remember that this anemometer is at a non-standard height of 60 feet above ground level (AGL), which can cause greater wind speeds than at the standard 33 feet AGL.
There was no precipitation on Thursday. My November monthly total precipitation is 0.25 inches. My November monthly total snowfall is a trace. The year-to-date precipitation total is 44.82 inches.
My current downstairs station data is now showing regularly on Weather Underground. My data is posted there every 5 minutes. My ID is KMDROCKV200 and my station is called Gardens of Traville. Data is online, available in real-time as it is being updated on a 5 minute interval. The web address for my data on weather underground is: https://www.wunderground.com/personal-weather-station/dashboard?ID=KMDROCKV200
I contribute my precipitation data daily to CoCoRaHS as Rockville 2.8 WNW, Station ID MD-MG-115 and can be found on the web at https://www.cocorahs.org
Please remember that my Weather Underground precipitation data reflects what is recorded automatically through the tipping bucket VP2 gauge, just as it does on WxLink 2.0. The tipping bucket has been producing erratic values on most days (when I have had rain that is) so should not be used except for general precipitation
timing.
I actually use the data I post to CoCoRaHS from my 4 inch CoCoRaHS gauge I read manually as my official precipitation total each day.
Thursday was grocery order day in the early AM, and delivery of the order in the later evening. I had my usual shredded wheat and bananas with milk for a very late breakfast, along with a hot chocolate energy shake. Earlier I finally finished up the remaining pork barbecue which I had thought I had finished yesterday. I slept through my weekly trivia game unfortunately. I watched a good part of the Thursday night football game between the Steelers and home-standing Browns, marred by an ugly incident at the very end of the game, when the Steeler QB was hit on the head with his own helmet, which had just been removed by a now-suspended Brown player. He is OK. I had a nice conversation on Facetime with my grandson Gideon, who continues to talk up more of a storm every time we talk so it seems. His mother has to translate some of his words, and he gets encouraged when I respond to what he is saying.
