Mostly cloudy, a bit milder, dry update for Tuesday, October 29 2019 from West Rockville Maryland

On Tuesday, we had mostly cloudy skies most of the day, save for the very early AM hours, a bit milder temperatures, and dry conditions all day .The highs reached the mid 60s by mid-afternoon after lows in the mid 50s degrees in the early morning then once again dropped into the mid 50s by midnight observation time. Dew point temperatures held in the low-mid 50s most all day

The maximum temperature was 63.9 degrees at 1542.

The minimum temperature was 53.9 degrees at 0253.

The dew point temperatures ranged from a low of 52 degrees @ 0208 up to a high of 56 degrees @ 1355.

The relative humidity values ranged from a high of 93% @ 0311 down to a low of 74% @ 1422.

The barometric pressure ranged from a low of 30.25 inches @ 0000 up to a high of 30.30 inches @ 1051.

The highest daily wind speed recorded across the street on the roof of the new USG building was 11 MPH that was recorded at 1022 from the SE. Please remember that this anemometer is at a non-standard height of 60 feet above ground level (AGL), which can cause greater wind speeds than at the standard 33 feet AGL.

There was no precipitation on Tuesday so the October monthly total holds at 4.16 inches. The year-to-date total is still 42.41 inches.

My current downstairs station data is now showing regularly on Weather Underground. My data is posted there every 5 minutes. My ID is KMDROCKV200 and my station is called Gardens of Traville. Data is online, available in real-time as it is being updated on a 5 minute interval. The web address for my data on weather underground is: https://www.wunderground.com/personal-weather-station/dashboard?ID=KMDROCKV200

I contribute my precipitation data daily to CoCoRaHS as Rockville 2.8 WNW, Station ID MD-MG-115 and can be found on the web at https://www.cocorahs.org

Please remember that my Weather Underground precipitation data reflects what is recorded automatically through the tipping bucket VP2 gauge, just as it does on WxLink 2.0. The tipping bucket has been producing erratic values on most days (when I have had rain that is) so should not be used except for general precipitation
timing.

I actually use the data I post to CoCoRaHS from my 4 inch CoCoRaHS gauge I read manually as my official precipitation total each day.

I had a busy day on Tuesday.  Once again I didn’t get much sleep due to heightened activity, mostly in compiling my Halloween trivia questions. I really got on a roll overnight Tuesday, and am about 90% done on the compilation of the questions and hope to finish it up Wednesday night, though the World Series game 7 will have to say something about that. I had some cereal for breakfast, and made my favorite baked panko breaded chicken and mushroom-infused broccoli cheddar rice a roni, prefaced by a nice tossed salad of fresh greens, tomatoes, mushrooms, radishes, cucumbers, croutons, cottage cheese and chipotle ranch dressing.  I had two toasted almond bars for dessert along with a few snack sized mounds bars. And plenty of water and hot pomegranate tea. I watched an exciting game 6 of the World Series Tuesday night, won by the Nationals 7-2.

On Wednesday it was cloudy with light rain developing in the evening, with highs in the mid 60s and lows in the mid 50s.

On Thursday it looks to be cloudy with periods of rain and evening thunderstorms, possibly severe, with highs in the mid 70s and lows in the lower 40s as a strong cold front approaches from the W.

Friday through Sunday should be sunny and chilly, with highs in the 50 to 55 degree range and lows in the low 30s as we start off the month on a colder November note, with our first freeze very possible sometime over the weekend.

At Midnight Tuesday, I observed cloudy skies with a temperature of 55.8 degrees, relative humidity 89%, pressure rising at 30.29 inches with a dew point temperature of 53 degrees. Winds were averaging 1 MPH from the ESE.

Currently at 2040 Wednesday evening the temperature is 59.3 degrees under cloudy, occassionally rainy skies, relative humidity at 94%, barometric pressure falling at 30.13 inches, and the dew point temperature at 58 degrees. Winds are averaging 4 MPH over the past 10 minutes from the SE. Peak wind gust since midnight has been 11 MPH from the SE at 2027.

Good evening from the walrus on this currently cloudy, rainy, relatively mild Wednesday.
