Partly sunny, much cooler, gradually less humid, breezy at times, pleasant but still dry update for Tuesday, September 24, 2019 from West Rockville Maryland
Partly sunny, much cooler, gradually less humid, breezy at times but unfortunately still dry on Tuesday. Low temps in the low 60s were reached at the end of the day at midnight observation time after daily highs in the upper 70s by mid afternoon were reached. Dew point temperatures were at their highest in the very early morning hours (mid 60s), then dropped off steadily most of the day, reaching the upper 40s by later in the afternoon.
The maximum temperature was 78.4 degrees at 1459.
The minimum temperature was 62.0 degrees at 2359 (VP2 display) and 63.4 degrees at 2359 on wxlink sources.
The dew point temperatures ranged from a high of 65 degrees @ 0006 down to a low of 49 degrees @ 1646.
The relative humidity values ranged from a high of 80% @ 0343 down to a low of 37% @ 1656.
The barometric pressure ranged from a low of 29.84 inches @ 0255 up to a high of 29.94 inches @ 2246.
There was no precipitation on Tuesday so the monthly total is still 0.42 inches. The year-to-date total is 38.08 inches. We are really getting quite dry around here with once again little to no chance for rain the rest of this week.
My current online data is showing regularly on Weather Underground. My data is posted there every 5 minutes. My ID is KMDROCKV200 and my station is called Gardens of Traville. Data is online, available in real-time as it is being updated on a 5 minute interval. The web address for my data on weather underground is:
https://www.wunderground.com/personal-weather-station/dashboard?ID=KMDROCKV200
Unfortunately a recent development was found that is a discrepancy between my wxlink data and my VP2 display data. I noted this last Friday when the low temperature came in as 50.2 degrees as I saw it in real time on my VP2 display, but on other sources tied in with wxlink I had a low of 52.8. Other variables also were a bit different. I don’t understand this discrepancy which I continue to notice in my records. I need to study close by VP2 stations in wunderground to see if I may be getting signal interference from another station all of a sudden. In a probably related development, I also continue to notice wind data for my station in wxlink (and therefore also in my weather underground data) a few days ago and has continued (And I have no working anemometer connected to my station).
I contribute my precipitation data daily to CoCoRaHS as Rockville 2.8 WNW, Station ID MD-MG-115 and can be found on the web at https://www.cocorahs.org
Please remember that my Weather Underground precipitation data reflects what is recorded automatically through the tipping bucket VP2 gauge, just as it does on WxLink 2.0. The tipping bucket has been producing erratic values on most days (when I have had rain that is) so should not be used except for general precipitation timing.
I actually use the data I post to CoCoRaHS from my 4 inch CoCoRaHS gauge I read manually as my official precipitation total each day. I haven’t been able to do this very much this month unfortunately since precious little rain (only on two days all month) has fallen from the sky.
I had a busy Tuesday with an early afternoon Podiatry appointment at the Kaiser medical facility in Gaithersburg, The nurse cut my toenails but complications developed during the procedure. My right pinky toe was bruised and very painful when poked and cut on. The Podiatry doctor came to take a look and I got a neosporin coated bandage applied. I also have an open wound on my leg that is leaking fluid that I had bandaged earlier due to some bleeding also, so a nurse came in to re-bandage it as a good amount of fluid (no more blood thank goodness) had soaked my soak and wetted the floor. I also got a flu shot. So what was supposed to be a 1/2 hour simple procedure took over an hour to finish. My great Uber driver friend Mike waited patiently for me the whole time. I relaxed after all this stress when I got back to my apartment, and took good care of my toe and leg. I had the rest of the cereal with a banana and milk soon after I returned back to my apartment. Later on I heated up the leftover hoisin chicken and made a double batch of four cheese rice a roni, after enjoying a garden salad while the rice was cooking and the chicken was heating up. After watching some wrestling and baseball and some late night TV variety shows, I worked on catching up these two most recent weather reports. More tropical activity has developed but nothing major and nothing headed this way for several days.
Wednesday should be mostly sunny with high temps of 80-85 and lows in the 55-60 range.
Thursday should be partly cloudy with highs in the mid 80s and lows in the low-mid 50s, with a 20% chance of a rain shower.
Friday should be mostly sunny with scattered clouds and highs around 80 with lows in the low-mid 60s.
The weekend looks partly to mostly sunny and very warm with highs in the mid-upper 80s and lows in the mid 60s.
Right now the forecast is for rain showers and cooler on Monday as we close out September, highs around 80 and lows in the mid 60s.
I will believe that rain will fall when I see it, the way it has been.
On Midnight Tuesday the temperature was 63.4 degrees (wxlink) and 62.0 degrees on the VP2 display, relative humidity 62% on wxlink and 72% on my VP2 display, pressure rising at 29.93 inches with the dew point temperature at 50 (VP2) degrees and 53 degrees (wxlink) under
clear skies.
Currently at 0819 Wednesday morning the temperature is 57.2 degrees under mostly sunny skies, relative humidity at 88%, barometric pressure rising at 29.98 inches, and the dew point temperature at 54 degrees.
Good morning from the walrus on this sunny, pleasant Wednesday.
