Partly sunny, cooler, still dry update for Tuesday, September 17, 2019 from West Rockville Maryland

Partly cloudy, cooler temps with a cold frontal passage in the AM that caused cloudiness for a while in the morning, then slow clearing and drying out as the PM hours passed. High temps were in the upper mid 70s in the mid-afternoon, then gradually fell into the upper mid 60s by late evening. Dew point temperatures were at their highest (mid 60s) in the very beginning of the day, then fell gradually through the 60s and upper 50s to the mid 60s by late evening.

The maximum temperature was 77.2 degrees at 1607.

The minimum temperature was 67.4 degrees at 2320. (AM min was 68.8 degrees at 0745)

The dew point temperatures ranged from a high of 66 degrees @ 0000 down to a low of 56 degrees @ 2302.

The relative humidity values ranged from a high of 88% @ 0626 down to a low of 54% @ 1826.

The barometric pressure ranged from a low of 30.01 inches @ 0401 up to a high of 30.14 inches @ 1120.

There was no precipitation on Tuesday so the monthly total is still 0.42 inches. The year-to-date total is 38.08 inches.

My current online data is showing regularly on Weather Underground. My data is posted there every 5 minutes. My ID is KMDROCKV200 and my station is called Gardens of Traville. Data is online, available in real-time as it is being updated on a 5 minute interval. The web address for my data on weather underground is: https://www.wunderground.com/personal-weather-station/dashboard?ID=KMDROCKV200

I contribute my precipitation data daily to CoCoRaHS as Rockville 2.8 WNW, Station ID MD-MG-115 and can be found on the web at https://www.cocorahs.org

Please remember that my Weather Underground precipitation data reflects what is recorded automatically through the tipping bucket VP2 gauge, just as it does on WxLink 2.0. The tipping bucket has been producing erratic values on most days (when I have had rain that is) so should not be used except for general precipitation timing.

I actually use the data I post to CoCoRaHS from my 4 inch CoCoRaHS gauge I read manually as my official precipitation total each day.

Tuesday was a crash day early in my recliner, then a late brunch of the remaining mashed cauliflower covered in the leftover vodka sauce (an unlikely combination that I most likely will never try again). I worked on delivery preparation for the Fresh Direct arrival in the early evening. I had fun sampling a few items like potato salad, kimchee, and orzo salad while putting the items away, then later a delicious sandwich on this new great seeded rye bread with turkey pastami from the deli and jalapeno infused palmetto cheese along with some of the new macaroni and potato salads. I watched some of the Smackdown live wrestling show and also the Weather Channel and local weather shows to get a detailed report on the increases in tropical activity. Tropical storm Imelda in the Gulf was coming ashore along the Texas coast with flooding rains and some storm surge, hurricane Humberto in the Atlantic heading ENE that appears will miss a direct hit of Bermuda (tracking north of the island), and tropical storm Jerry, about 1000 miles east of the eastern Caribbean Islands, heading WNW.

Mostly sunny and pleasantly cool temps on Wednesday and Thursday with highs in the mid-upper 70s and lows well down into the very pleasant 50s. It looks like another dry week.

Friday should start warming up to around 80 after one more pleasant night in the mid 50s.

Saturday and Sunday should warm up some more with continued sunny skies, pleasant overnight temps around 60. High temps will reach well into the 80s to near 90.

On Midnight Tuesday the temperature was 67.4 degrees, relative humidity 68%, pressure rising at 30.13 inches with the dew point temperature at 56 degrees under clear skies.

Currently at 0958 Wednesday morning the temperature is 66.6 degrees under partly cloudy (altocumulus) skies, relative humidity at 75%, barometric pressure rising at 30.23 inches, and the dew point temperature at 59 degrees.

Good morning from the walrus on this partly cloudy, pleasant Wednesday.
