Partly cloudy, hot, more humid but still dry as storms in area miss my location update for Wednesday, September 11, 2019 from West Rockville Maryland

Wednesday turned hot and humid under partly cloudy skies with late afternoon/early evening storm threats. Storms just to my west in northern VA looked like a sure thing as they were moving east towards my location, but they veered more south and broke up over my area with nary a measurable drop or rumble of thunder observed. There was plenty of fuel for the storms today as temps soared up into the mid 90s by mid-afternoon, after early morning mins in the upper mid 60s. Dew point temperatures rose into the lower 70s by midday, but held in the mid-upper 60s at the beginning and the end of the day.

The maximum temperature was 94.2 degrees at 1536.

The minimum temperature was 67.6 degrees at 0643.

The dew point temperatures ranged from a low of 64 degrees @ 0013 up to a high of 72 degrees @ 1147.

The relative humidity values ranged from a high of 93% @ 0630 down to a low of 43% @ 1536.

The barometric pressure ranged from a high of 30.27 inches @ 0038 down to a low of 30.07 inches @ 1739.

There was no precipitation on Wednesday so the monthly total remains at 0.39 inches. The year-to-date total is 38.05 inches.

My current online data (except for rainfall/snowfall so please use the cocorahs link shown below) is showing regularly on Weather Underground. My data is posted there every 5 minutes. My ID is KMDROCKV200 and my station is called Gardens of Traville. Data is online, available in real-time as it is being updated on a 5
minute interval. The web address for my data on weather underground is: https://www.wunderground.com/personal-weather-station/dashboard?ID=KMDROCKV200

I contribute my precipitation data daily to CoCoRaHS as Rockville 2.8 WNW, Station ID MD-MG-115 and can be found on the web at https://www.cocorahs.org

Please remember that my Weather Underground precipitation data reflects what is recorded automatically through the tipping bucket VP2 gauge, just as it does on WxLink 2.0. The tipping bucket has been producing erratic values on most days (when I have had rain that is) so should not be used except for general precipitation timing.

I actually use the data I post to CoCoRaHS from my 4 inch CoCoRaHS gauge I read manually as my official precipitation total each day.

My weather station continued to record wind direction and speed data all day on Wednesday. You should still be seeing it on my wxlink and weather underground station data. I can only theorize that a station nearby has wind data and for some reason my datalogger randomly started picking up the wind data signal on Tuesday. Stay tuned for further possible explanations. I consulted with my friend Marty and he theorized that it is some sort of “bug” causing this.  I have not had the chance to try and correlate the wind data with nearby weather underground stations as yet.

I was really tired today and continued to rest in bed in between occasional phone calls and phone gaming until the late afternoon when the storms started to threaten just to my west according to local radar. I skipped breakfast and just made a big dinner of Schwan products namely Chicken Cordon Bleu, Parmesan Risotto and Normandy mixed vegetables. All was quite delicious! I also had my usual spicy hot low sodium V8 juice and a bit of orzo salad while the dinner was cooking. I relaxed some more after dinner, napping some more as I just couldn’t really get going today. I did clean up in the kitchen and watched some baseball at times besides talking with Ray and Marty over our storms and current weather situation. We all are looking for cooler fall weather!!!

Thursday should be partly cloudy and will heat up once again with highs in the low 90s and lows in the lower 70s. As a cold front draws near, chances will increase for showers and thundershowers, possibly severe, in the afternoon and early evening.

Friday looks to cool back down with highs only into the low 70s and lows only in the low 60s under mostly cloudy skies with a chance for sprinkles/drizzle or light showers at times.

Saturday and Sunday look to warm up with more clouds than sun, highs in the low-mid 80s and lows in the mid 60s.

Monday should be partly to mostly sunny and a bit warmer, with highs around 90 and lows in the mid 60s.

On Midnight Wednesday the temperature was 73.3 degrees, relative humidity 81%, pressure falling at 30.08 inches with the dew point temperature at 67 degrees under partly cloudy skies.

Currently at 0617 Wednesday morning the temperature is 73.1 degrees under fair skies, relative humidity at 85%, barometric pressure steady at 30.08 inches, and the dew point temperature at 68 degrees.

Good early morning from the walrus on this fair Thursday.
