Sunny, warm, a bit less humid, dry update for Tuesday, September 3, 2019 from West Rockville Maryland

Tuesday was sunny, a tad less warm and a bit less humid, and dry. High temperatures reached the low 80s by mid-afternoon, with lows for the day in the early AM in the mid 60s. Dew point temperatures ranged from the upper 60s in the very early AM up to the low 60s by late afternoon and then up a bit into the mid 60s around midnight.

The maximum temperature was 82.8 degrees at 1502.

The minimum temperature was 66.5 degrees at 0642.

The dew point temperatures ranged from a high of 69 degrees @ 0000 down to a low of 61 degrees @ 1704.

The relative humidity values ranged from a high of 95% @ 0245 down to a low of 51% @ 1622.

The barometric pressure ranged from a high of 30.09 inches @ 0831 down to a low of 29.98 inches @ 2028.

There was no precipitation on Tuesday so the monthly total remains at 0.39 inches. The year-to-date total is 38.05 inches.

My current online data (except for rainfall/snowfall so please use the cocorahs link shown below) is showing regularly on Weather Underground. My data is posted there every 5 minutes. My ID is KMDROCKV200 and my station is called Gardens of Traville. Data is online, available in real-time as it is being updated on a 5
minute interval. The web address for my data on weather underground is: https://www.wunderground.com/personal-weather-station/dashboard?ID=KMDROCKV200

I contribute my precipitation data daily to CoCoRaHS as Rockville 2.8 WNW, Station ID MD-MG-115 and can be found on the web at https://www.cocorahs.org

Please remember that my Weather Underground precipitation data reflects what is recorded automatically through the tipping bucket VP2 gauge, just as it does on WxLink 2.0. The tipping bucket has been producing erratic values on most days of late so should not be used except for general precipitation timing.

I actually use the data I post to CoCoRaHS from my 4 inch CoCoRaHS gauge I read manually as my official precipitation total each day.

I arose as usual in the afternoon and checked my mail thereafter, then had a late lunch of a salami and cheese sandwich. Kind of running low on food supplies, so I made a Safeway grocery order online that will be delivered on early Wednesday evening. I did manage to scrounge up some frozen baked fish, tater tots and steamed broccoli and cauliflower for dinner. I finished off the last of the ice cream, still quite hard with the new freezer part of the refrigerator still maintaining a temperature around zero degrees. Later I caught more of the Weather Channel’s 24/7 coverage of Dorian, seeing more of the incredible damage the storm laid on the Bahamas, and then starting its turn to the north and finally sparing the Bahamas any further damage. It looks to hug pretty close to the coast along northern FL, GA, into the Carolinas, where the hurricane may brush its powerful affects on South and especially North Carolina later in the week. Still a  Category 2, with 100+ MPH winds, it is still quite dangerous.

Wednesday looks to be partly cloudy and hotter with highs in the low 90s and lows in the low 70s with a slight chance of an afternoon or evening thundershower.

At this point Thursday looks mostly cloudy and much cooler, with highs in the 70s and lows in the upper 60s with only slight chances of occasional showers from the approaching circulation from Dorian.

Friday should have partly cloudy to cloudy skies, remaining relatively cool with highs in the mid 70s and lows in the upper 50s with thunderstorms possible as Dorian steams by our latitude well to the east out in the Atlantic Ocean.

Saturday should be mostly sunny and warmer, with highs in the low 80s and lows in the lower 60s.

Hurricane Dorian is still looming big-time, well to the south. I still will be watching it closely in the days
ahead to see where it tracks and how strong it gets.

On Midnight Tuesday the temperature was 72.2 degrees, relative humidity 83%, pressure steady at 30.01 inches and the dew point temperature at 67 degrees under partly cloudy skies.

Currently at 0702 Wednesday morning the temperature is 71.5 degrees under mostly cloudy skies (a stratus overcast), relative humidity at 93%, barometric pressure steady at 30.01 inches, and the dew point temperature at 69 degrees.

Good morning from the walrus on this cloudy Wednesday.
