Partly cloudy, warmer, quite humid midday but lessening a bit in the evening update for Saturday, August 17, 2019 at West Rockville Maryland

Saturday featured warmer temps approaching the 90 mark, humid during the mid-day hours but drying out some in the evening. High temps reached the upper 80s after a warmer, muggy overnight in the upper low 70s. Temps fell only into the mid 70s by midnight observation time and it was a bit less muggy.
Dew points rose into the upper mid 70s by mid-day but dropped into the upper 60s during most of the evening hours till midnight observation time.

The maximum temperature was 88.8 degrees at 1537.

The minimum temperature was 73.1 degrees at 0644.

The dew point temperatures ranged from a high of 77 degrees @ 1212 down to a low of 67 degrees @ 2006.

The relative humidity values ranged from a high of 95% @ 0731 down to a low of 60% @ 1737.

The barometric pressure ranged from a high of 30.03 inches @ 1122 down to a low of 29.94 inches @ 1729. (same values, different times than yesterday)

There was no precipitation on Saturday so there still is a total of 3.99 inches of rain in August. The year-to-date total is 33.68 inches.

My current online data (except for rainfall/snowfall so please use the cocorahs link shown below) is showing regularly on Weather Underground. My data is posted there every 5 minutes. My ID is KMDROCKV200 and my station is called Gardens of Traville. Data is online, available in real-time as it is being updated on a 5
minute interval. The web address for my data on weather underground is: https://www.wunderground.com/personal-weather-station/dashboard?ID=KMDROCKV200

I contribute my precipitation data daily to CoCoRaHS as Rockville 2.8 WNW, Station ID MD-MG-115 and can be found on the web at https://www.cocorahs.org

Please remember that my Weather Underground precipitation data reflects what is recorded automatically through the tipping bucket VP2 gauge, just as it does on WxLink 2.0. The tipping bucket has been producing erratic values every day of late so should not be used except for general precipitation timing. (for example, it recorded 2.15 inches of rain over a week ago (Sunday 8/4), with a 16.94 inch an hour rain rate at 0021 very early on that day that was way over what actually occurred.)

I actually use the data I post to CoCoRaHS from my 4 inch CoCoRaHS gauge I read manually as my official precipitation total each day.

Saturday was a laid back day, slow to start. I had an egg, turkey sausage, cream cheese sandwich on a toasted bagel, along with some hash brown potatoes made out of 2 small leftover baked potatoes with butter, Mrs Dash, and a bit of cheese, along with some regular coffee. I watched some preseason football, baseball, and movies and listened to some rock and roll on my computer and on the music choice selection on my comcast cable TV connection. I continued to prepare my July weather data and also started on a new list of trivia questions which I will be giving out next Thursday to our apartment group. Lots to do!

So far Sunday has been sunny to partly cloudy (fair weather cumulus – storms elsewhere scattered about the region, particularly towards and past Baltimore) , quite hot and humid, with highs in the low 90s and lows this morning in the low 70s and dew points mostly in the low-mid 70s.

Monday will be partly sunny, hot and humid, with high temps in the mid 90s, lows in the low 70s with no chance of rain.

Tuesday and Wednesday will be partly sunny, continued hot and humid with a chance of showers/storms with highs in the low-mid 90s and lows in the low 70s.

Thursday rain chances increase, under partly to mostly cloudy skies and gradually cooler temps in the upper 80s and lows in the low-mid 60s.

Friday should be nice with partly cloudy, dry skies and highs only around the 80 mark with lows in the pleasant low 60s.

Midnight Saturday recorded a temperature of 74.8 degrees, relative humidity 83%, pressure steady at 29.97 inches and the dew point temperature at 69.3 degrees under mostly cloudy skies.

Currently at 1640 the temperature is 89.9 degrees under partly cloudy (scattered cumulus) skies, relative humidity at 61%, barometric pressure falling at 29.97 inches, and the dew point temperature at 75 degrees.

Good afternoon from the walrus on this hot, muggy Sunday.
