Partly cloudy, warmer, more humid Monday, Cloudy, cooler, dry, moderately humid Tuesday, and partly cloudy, warmer, and more humid Wednesday update for Monday, August 12 through Wednesday, August 14, 2019 at West Rockville Maryland

I got behind once again with personal issues the past few days, nothing serious however, so I must combine the past 3 days into one condensed post like I have been doing often of late.

Monday was a partly sunny, (clear AM, partly cloudy with fair weather cumulus afternoon) warmer and up to moderately humid levels and dry day. High temps reached the upper 80s after one more reasonably pleasant early AM in the low 60s, not cooling off much by late evening as temps only fell into the upper 70s.  Dew points were around the 60 mark at the very start of the day, then rose into the low 70s by early evening, and only dropped slightly into the upper 60s by midnight observation time.

The maximum temperature was 88.1 degrees at 1622.

The minimum temperature was 63.2 degrees at 0621.

The dew point temperatures ranged from a low of 60 degrees @ 0000 up to a high of 71 degrees @ 1805.

The relative humidity values ranged from a high of 94% @ 0744 down to a low of 51% @ 1433.

The barometric pressure ranged from a high of 30.04 inches @ 0000 down to a low of 29.88 inches @ 1820.

There was no precipitation on Monday so there remains a total of 3.84 inches of rain so far in August. The year-to-date total is 33.53 inches.

Tuesday was a mostly cloudy day, cooler but more humid but remarkably dry. High temps only reached the low 80s after a warm, humid overnight which barely lowered below the 75 mark. Temps did fall a bit lower then the AM min by late evening in the lower mid 70s, but was still muggy. Storms on radar over central Virginia looked like a sure bet to give me some evening action, but at the Potomac River (Virginia/Maryland border) the storm line split and cells went north and south of the track into my location, and I just got some cumulus congestus clouds. Dew points were in the upper mid 60s in the very early AM, then gradually rose into the mid 70s by early afternoon, and only dropped slightly into the lower 70s by midnight observation time.

The maximum temperature was 81.7 degrees at 1525.

The minimum temperature was 73.9 degrees at 2349. (AM min 74.8 degrees at 0720)

The dew point temperatures ranged from a low of 67 degrees @ 0134 up to a high of 75 degrees @ 1349.

The relative humidity values ranged from a high of 94% @ 0744 down to a low of 51% @ 1433.

The barometric pressure ranged from a high of 29.89 inches @ 0007 down to a low of 29.75 inches @ 1924.

There was no precipitation on Tuesday so there remains a total of 3.84 inches of rain so far in August. The year-to-date total is 33.53 inches.

Wednesday was a partly cloudy dry day, warmer but a bit more humid. High temps reached the mid 80s after another warm, humid overnight which only lowered into the low 70s. Temps fell only into the mid 70s by midnight observation time, but were still muggy. Dew points stayed pretty steady all day in the low to mid 70s.

The maximum temperature was 84.6 degrees at 1705.

The minimum temperature was 72.4 degrees at 0553.

The dew point temperatures ranged from a low of 71 degrees @ 0447 up to a high of 75 degrees @ 0951.

The relative humidity values ranged from a high of 98% @ 0545 down to a low of 65% @ 1726.

The barometric pressure ranged from a low of 29.75 inches @ 0235 up to a high of 29.91 inches @ 2325.

There was no precipitation on Wednesday so there remains a total of 3.84 inches of rain so far in August. The year-to-date total is 33.53 inches.

My current online data (except for rainfall/snowfall – use the cocorahs link shown below) is showing regularly on Weather Underground. My data is posted there every 5 minutes. My ID is KMDROCKV200 and my station is called “Gardens of Traville.” Data is online, available in real-time as it is being updated on a 5 minute interval. The web address for my data on weather underground is: https://www.wunderground.com/personal-weather-station/dashboard?ID=KMDROCKV200

I contribute my precipitation data daily to CoCoRaHS as Rockville 2.8 WNW, Station ID MD-MG-115 and can be found on the web at https://www.cocorahs.org

Please remember that my Weather Underground precipitation data reflects what is recorded automatically through the tipping bucket VP2 gauge, just as it does on WxLink 2.0. The tipping bucket has been producing erratic values every day of late so should not be used except for general precipitation timing. (for example, it recorded 2.15 inches of rain a week ago (Sunday 8/4), with a 16.94 inch/hour rain rate at 0021 very early on that day that was way over what actually occurred.)

I actually use the data I post to CoCoRaHS from my 4 inch CoCoRaHS gauge I read manually as my “official” precipitation total each day.

Monday was a busy day. I listened to the Weather Buff show on the internet, and talked with my sister on the phone right after the show, and then dealt with a variety of personal issues. l had stuffed peppers and a few bratwurst for dinner. I relaxed some after dinner, watching baseball and the RAW wrestling show. Tuesday I had a late breakfast of corned beef hash, eggs, cheese, tomatoes, peppers and onions with a toasted everything bagel. Very yummy! On Wednesday I had the leftover bratwurst and stuffed peppers, still quite good. I watched some baseball and late in the evening placed a small Safeway grocery delivery order to by brought to my apartment early Friday afternoon.

On Thursday a cold front should drop down from the north and stall out, with possible showers and storms. It should be partly cloudy with high temps in the low-mid 80s, lows in the upper-mid 60s.

Friday should warm up a bit into the upper 80s under partly cloudy, dry skies, with lows around 70.

Over the weekend both Saturday and Sunday should be partly cloudy, hot and humid, with highs in the low 90s and lows in the low-mid 70s.

Monday will continue this same pattern, partly cloudy, hot and humid with highs once again in the low 90s and lows in the low-mid 70s.

Midnight Wednesday recorded a temperature of 76.4 degrees, relative humidity 87%, pressure rising at 29.91 inches and the dew point temperature at a muggy 71.3 degrees under mostly clear skies.

Currently at 0443 the temperature is 73.5 degrees under partly cloudy skies, relative humidity at 93%, barometric pressure steady at 29.91 inches, and the dew point temperature at 72 degrees.

Good early morning from the walrus on this muggy start to Thursday.
