Warmer temperatures, partly sunny skies, but with brief light morning shower update for Thursday, May 16, 2019 from West Rockville Maryland

Thursday warmed up some more under partly cloudy skies despite a weak cold frontal passage in the morning that gave us a light shower (0.02″) around 0800.  Today’s featured image is a near sunset picture snapped just before 1900 on my way to my weekly trivia game.  I took a similar picture same time last week. Sun is clearer this week than last, though still has some high clouds in evidence. Temperatures rose from the lower mid 50s in the early AM to the mid 70s by mid-afternoon

The maximum temperature was 76.7° at 1627.

The minimum temperature was 53.0° at 0454.

The dew point temperatures ranged from a low of 46° @ 0114 up to a high of 58° @ 1118.

The relative humidity values ranged from a high of 90% @ 0802 down to a low of 36% @ 1618.

The barometric pressure ranged from a high of 29.97″ @ 0807 down to a low of 29.86″ @ 1924.

There was 0.02″ of precipitation falling mid-morning on Thursday. May now has a total rainfall of 4.68″. The year-to-date total is 18.73″.

My current online data (except for rainfall/snowfall – use the cocorahs link shown below for that dataset) is showing regularly on Weather Underground. My data is posted there every 5 minutes. My ID is KMDROCKV200 and my station is called “Gardens of Traville.” Data is online, normally just about in real-time now as it is being updated on a 5 minute interval. The web address for my data on weather underground is:
https://www.wunderground.com/personal-weather-station/dashboard?ID=KMDROCKV200

I contribute my precipitation data daily to CoCoRaHS as Rockville 2.8 WNW, Station ID MD-MG-115 on https://www.cocorahs.org/

Please remember that my Weather Underground precipitation data reflects what is recorded automatically through the tipping bucket VP2 gauge, just as it does on WxLink 2.0. The tipping bucket has been producing erratic values at times so should not be used except for general precipitation timing.

I actually use the data I post to CoCoRaHS from my 4 inch CoCoRaHS gauge I read manually as my “official” precipitation total each day.

Friday looks to be partly cloudy and warmer with a slight chance of a shower/thundershower in the afternoon, with highs in the low 80s and lows in the low 60s.

Saturday should be partly to mostly cloudy and a bit warmer with highs in the lower mid 80s and lows in the lower mid 60s.

Sunday should be partly cloudy and quite warm, with highs near 90° and lows around 70°.

Monday should have highs in the mid 80s with partly cloudy but dry skies, with lows reached late in the day in the upper 50s after the front clears out.

Tuesday and Wednesday look cloudy and cooler, with highs in the 70s and lows in the mid 50s to lower 60s.

Midnight Thursday recorded a temperature of 60.6°, relative humidity 77%, pressure steady at 29.91″ and a dew point temperature of 53° under partly cloudy skies.

Currently at 0650 the temperature is 57.2° under partly cloudy skies (cirrostratus mostly), relative humidity at 93%, barometric pressure steady at 29.85″, and the dew point at 55°. There are some strong thunderstorms moving quickly through WV right now, but are headed SE and into central VA and will be well SW of my immediate area over the next few hours.

Good morning from the walrus on this TGIF Friday.
