Cooler temperatures persist along with clouds, dampness with more occasional rain showers update for Mother’s Day Sunday May 12, 2019 from West Rockville Maryland
Sunday cooled down even further as clouds continued to hold fast under the persistent NE winds with the stationary front still lying to our south, keeping us in the cooler sector. Occasional waves of light rain (0.66″) fell throughout the day, but heaviest in the morning through mid-day, with only a bit of light rain and drizzle in the evening hours. Temps only reached a high in the upper mid 50s early but kept falling slowly all day, finally reaching the upper 40s by late in the evening.
The maximum temperature was 57.7° at 0358.
The minimum temperature was 48.4° at 2355.
The dew point temperatures ranged from a high of 57° @ 0335 down to a low of 47° @ 2351.
The relative humidity values ranged from a high of 96% @ 0229 down to a low of only 93% @ 1557.
The barometric pressure ranged from a high of 29.90″ @ 0001 down to a low of 29.74″ @ 1310.
There was 0.66″ of precipitation falling on Sunday. May now has a total rainfall of 4.11″. The year-to-date total is now 18.16″.
My current online data (except for rainfall/snowfall – use the cocorahs link shown below for that dataset) is showing regularly on Weather Underground. My data is posted there every 5 minutes. My ID is KMDROCKV200 and my station is called “Gardens of Traville.” Data is online, normally just about in real-time now as it is being updated on a 5 minute interval. The web address for my data on weather underground is: https://www.wunderground.com/personal-weather-station/dashboard?ID=KMDROCKV200
I contribute my precipitation data daily to CoCoRaHS as Rockville 2.8 WNW, Station ID MD-MG-115 on https://www.cocorahs.org/
Please remember that my Weather Underground precipitation data reflects what is recorded automatically through the tipping bucket VP2 gauge, just as it does on WxLink 2.0. The tipping bucket has been producing erratic values at times so should not be used except for general precipitation timing.
I actually use the data I post to CoCoRaHS from my 4 inch CoCoRaHS gauge I read manually as my “official” precipitation total each day.
Monday looks to continue this cloudy, wet, and cool pattern with high temps in the upper 50s and lows in the mid-upper 40s.
Tuesday should be partly to mostly cloudy but dry and remaining cool, with high temps in the upper 50s and lows in the low-mid 40s.
Wednesday and Thursday should be not as cool, with highs in the upper 60s to around 70° and lows in the low 50s under partly cloudy drying out skies.
Friday looks a bit warmer with highs in the low 70s and lows in the mid-upper 50s under more clouds than sun and a chance of showers returning.
Midnight Sunday found the temperature to be 48.4°, relative humidity 95%, pressure rising at 29.85″ and the dew point at 47.1° under cloudy, damp skies.
Currently at 0452 the temperature is 46.9° under cloudy, cool, damp skies, relative humidity at 95%, barometric pressure steady at 29.83″, and the dew point at 46°.
Good early morning from the walrus on this continued damp Monday.
