Cool to seasonable conditions, rain on Sunday, dry thereafter update for Sunday May 5 through Wednesday May 8, 2019 at West Rockville Maryland

Once again I have gotten behind and must post a shorter report for the past 4 days. After a rainy, cool Sunday, seasonably cool conditions and partly cloudy skies held forth except for a sunny, warmer Tuesday

Sunday, May 5 was cloudy, cool, and rainy (1.05″) from midnight till about 1800. Temperatures dropped slowly throughout the day, as the mid 60s high temperature was reached at the very beginning of the day, and the upper mid 50s low temperature was reached in the late evening.

The maximum temperature was 66.3° at 0000.

The minimum temperature was 57.0° at 2245.

The dew point temperatures ranged from a high of 64° @ 0000 down to a low of 55° @ 2043.

No rain fell between Monday, May 6 through Wednesday, May 8 despite tipping bucket results considerably above the zero mark each day. I believe it is the same problem I have had in the past from apartment grounds sprinklers, as it is about time for them to start in again, even though IMHO we don’t need sprinklers right now with the ground plenty damp in most all areas.

Monday, May 6 was partly cloudy, dry and warmer with high temperatures reaching the mid 70s after morning min temps in the mid 50s.

The maximum temperature was 75.3° at 1457.

Tuesday, May 7 was sunny, dry and warmer with high temperatures reaching highs around 80° after morning min temps in the mid 50s.

The maximum temperature was 80.3° at 1547.

The minimum temperature was 56.7° at 0633.

The dew point temperatures ranged from a low of 55° @ 0520 up to a high of 62° @ 0913.

My current online data (except for rainfall/snowfall – use the cocorahs link shown below for that dataset) is showing regularly on Weather Underground. My data is posted there every 5 minutes. My ID is KMDROCKV200 and my station is called “Gardens of Traville.” Data is online, normally just about in real-time now as it is being updated on a 5 minute interval. The web address for my data on weather underground is:
https://www.wunderground.com/personal-weather-station/dashboard?ID=KMDROCKV200

I contribute my precipitation data daily to CoCoRaHS as Rockville 2.8 WNW, Station ID MD-MG-115 on https://www.cocorahs.org/

Please remember that my Weather Underground precipitation data reflects what is recorded automatically through the tipping bucket VP2 gauge, just as it does on WxLink 2.0. The tipping bucket has been producing erratic values at times so should not be used except for general precipitation timing.

I actually use the data I post to CoCoRaHS from my 4 inch CoCoRaHS gauge I read manually as my “official” precipitation total each day.

Overnight Wednesday into Thursday has been cloudy but dry so far with temps in the low 60s near midnight to the upper 50s by sunrise.

On Thursday conditions should be cloudy and milder with highs in the mid 70s with a few showers later this morning, after lows in the low 60s.

Friday should be partly cloudy with highs in the upper 70s and lows in the mid 50s with afternoon/evening showers and thundershowers.

Saturday should be cooler and cloudy with temps holding in the 60s under rainy skies, particularly later in the day.

Cloudy skies and even cooler temperatures in the 50s  are expected for Mother’s Day Sunday with an all day soaking rain most likely at this time.

Midnight Wednesday found the temperature to be 61.2°, relative humidity 84%, pressure rising at 30.21″ and the dew point at 56.3° under cloudy skies.

Currently at 0614 the temperature is 59.1° under cloudy skies, relative humidity at 88%, barometric pressure steady at 30.21″, and the dew point at 56°.

Good morning from the walrus on this increasingly damp early Thursday.
