Conditions were mostly sunny and milder PM on Wednesday after a frosty early AM, then partly cloudy and warmer on Thursday. This update is for March 13 and March 14, 2019 at West Rockville Maryland
Still trying to get caught up, at least this update is covering only two days and is more or less in the traditional format. We are speeding up the process of morphing into springlike conditions as we head into the mid-March period. It is also conference basketball tournament week. These events will help determine the seedings of many top teams into the Big Dance (NCAA tournament) whose invitations will be coming this Sunday evening.

My current online data (except for rainfall/snowfall – use the cocorahs link shown below for that dataset) is showing regularly on Weather Underground. My data is posted there every 5 minutes. My ID is KMDROCKV200 and my station is called “Gardens of Traville.” Data is online, normally just about in real-time now as it is
being updated on a 5 minute interval. The web address for my data on weather underground is:
https://www.wunderground.com/personal-weather-station/dashboard?ID=KMDROCKV200
I contribute my precipitation data daily to CoCoRaHS as Rockville 2.8 WNW, Station ID MD-MG-115 on https://www.cocorahs.org/
Please remember that my Weather Underground precipitation data reflects what is recorded automatically through the tipping bucket VP2 gauge, just as it does on WxLink 2.0. The tipping bucket has been producing erratic values at times so should not be used except for general precipitation timing. For example during our big snowstorm back in mid-January the snow didn’t melt at all during the storm, and only started to record precipitation amounts a few days later when the sun and above freezing temperatures started to melt the snow.
I actually use the data I post to CoCoRaHS from my 4 inch CoCoRaHS gauge I read manually as my “official” precipitation total each day. I also use a snow stake outside my balcony window to get an idea on how much snow has fallen (while it is snowing) and how much snow is on the ground.
Friday should be mostly cloudy and still warm with a 60% showery sky from mid-afternoon into the early evening. Highs should be in the mid 60s and lows in the low 40s.
Over the weekend, sun should return with partly to mostly sunny skies and cooler temperatures with highs around 50° and lows around the freezing mark.
Midnight Thursday night found the temperature a balmy 65.9°, relative humidity 60%, pressure falling at 29.93″ and the dew point at 51.6° under a cloudy sky.
Currently at 0609 the temperature is 64.7° under cloudy skies, relative humidity at 74%, barometric pressure falling at 29.86″, and the dew point still rising at 56°.
Good early morning from the snowless walrus on this cloudy Friday.
