A cloudy, slightly cooler, slighly wet (late) update for West Rockville, Maryland for Friday, January 4, 2019
Thursday was cloudy, slightly cooler than Wednesday particularly in the very early AM hours when we almost made it down to a freezing min (32.3°), and slightly wet with light showers/drizzle in the late PM around 2200-2300. I still technically have not had a freezing minimum since December 27, over a full week ago. Seasonably mild temps look to continue for the foreseeable future. The temperatures ranged from the low 30s in the early AM up to the mid 40s by early afternoon then only falling off slightly into the lower-mid 40s at the very end of the day.
The maximum temperature was 46.9° at 1354.
The minimum temperature was 32.3° at 2316.
Dew point temperatures ranged from a low of 30° @ 0000 up to a high of 43° @ 1831.
Relative humidity values ranged from a low of 78% @ 1318 up to a high of 94% @ 2241.
Barometric pressure ranged from a high of 30.09″ @ 0922 down to a low of 29.66″ @ 2353.
Friday had 0.02″ of rain. 0.03″ is my January monthly total so far and also my year-to-date total for 2019.
My current online data (except for rainfall/snowfall – use the cocorahs link shown below for that dataset) is showing regularly on Weather Underground. My data is posted there every 5 minutes. My ID is KMDROCKV200 and my station is called “Gardens of Traville.” Data is online, normally just about in real-time now as it is being updated on a 5 minute interval. The web address for my data on weather underground is: https://www.wunderground.com/personal-weather-station/dashboard?ID=KMDROCKV200
I contribute my precipitation data daily to CoCoRaHS as Rockville 2.8 WNW, Station ID MD-MG-115 on https://www.cocorahs.org/
Please remember that Weather Underground precipitation data reflects what is recorded automatically through the tipping bucket VP2 gauge, just as it does on WxLink 2.0. The tipping bucket is producing erratic values so should not be used save for general precipitation timing. For example recently the bucket recorded 5.62″ for the day, clearly a significantly higher amount when compared to my 4 inch gauge total that day (3.24″). I actually use the data I post to CoCoRaHS from my 4 inch CoCoRaHS gauge I read manually as my “official” precipitation total each day.
Saturday will be cloudy/rainy with highs in the upper 40s and lows in the upper 30s.
Sunday should turn partly sunny with highs in the upper 40s and lows in the upper 20s.
Monday looks cloudy and colder, with temps holding in the 30s most of the day.
Friday’s midnight observations include a temperature of 43.7°, relative humidity 94%, barometric pressure 29.66″ and falling, with a dew point of 42.1° under cloudy skies.
Currently at 0950 the temperature is 43.3°, dew point temperature 42°, relative humidity 96%, and the barometric pressure at 29.56″ and rising under cloudy skies. Temps held in the low-mid 40s overnight with occasional light rain (0.11″) falling.
Good morning from the Walrus on this cloudy Saturday morning.
