MERRY CHRISTMAS!!! It was cloudy, colder, but dry in West Rockville, Maryland for Christmas Day Tuesday, December 25 2018

Christmas Day Tuesday was cloudy and  seasonably cold, as temperature ranged from around 40° in the afternoon down to the upper 20s in the late evening.

The maximum temperature was 39.5° at 1410.

The minimum temperature was 27.9° at 2335.

Dew point temperatures ranged from a low of 21° @ 0339 up to a high of 25° @ 1323.

Relative humidity values ranged from a low of 54% @ 1042 up to a high of 86% @ 2345.

Barometric pressure ranged from a low of 30.28″ @ 0006 up to a high of 30.45″ @ 2300.

No rain or snow fell  on Tuesday. December 2018 still has a total of 5.68″ of precipitation (liquid water equivalent). The year-to-date precipitation is still 64.40″. Unfortunately it was a snowless Christmas here.

My current online data (except for rainfall/snowfall – use cocorahs link shown below for that dataset) is showing regularly on Weather Underground. My data is posted there every 5 minutes. My ID is KMDROCKV200 and my station is called “Gardens of Traville.” Data is online, normally just about in real-time now as it is being updated on a 5 minute interval. The web address for my data on weather underground is:
https://www.wunderground.com/personal-weather-station/dashboard?ID=KMDROCKV200

I contribute my precipitation data daily to CoCoRaHS as Rockville 2.8 WNW, Station ID MD-MG-115 on https://www.cocorahs.org/

Please remember that Weather Underground precipitation data reflects what is recorded automatically through the tipping bucket VP2 gauge, just as it does on WxLink 2.0. The tipping bucket is producing erratic values so should not be used save for general precipitation timing. For example recently the bucket recorded 5.62″ for the day, clearly a significantly higher amount when compared to my 4 inch gauge total that day (3.24″). I actually use the data I post to CoCoRaHS from my 4
inch CoCoRaHS gauge I read manually as my “official” precipitation total each day.

Wednesday should be sunny with highs in the mid 40s and lows in the upper 20s.

Thursday should be partly sunny, with highs in the mid 40s and lows in the low 40s.

Friday looks to be milder, cloudy, and with rain, heavy at times, highs around 60° and lows in the mid 40s.

Saturday looks to be mostly sunny and mild with highs in around 50° and lows in the mid 30s.

Sunday looks to cool off again under cloudy skies with highs around 40° and lows around 30°.
There might be a chance of some type of frozen precipitation Sunday night but stay tuned for updates.

Tuesday’s midnight observations included a temperature of 28.1°, relative humidity 85%, barometric pressure 30.44″ and steady, with a dew point of 24.2° under clear skies.

Currently at 0600 the temperature is 26.3°, dew point temperature 23°, relative humidity 87%, and the barometric pressure at 30.53″ and rising under clear skies. During the overnight, temperatures fell a bit into the mid 20s under mostly clear skies.

Good morning from the Walrus on this clear day after Christmas Wednesday. Hope you all had a Merry Christmas!!!
