A cloudy, PM drizzly, light rainy, cool update from West Rockville, Maryland for Friday, December 14, 2018

Friday was a cloudy, cooler day with drizzle developing in the mid-afternoon, changing to light rain in the evening (0.29″), starting off our next 3 day wet period. High temps reached the mid 40s mark after another mild early AM min in the mid 30s. Of course our weekend rain system coming in for a few days will be the driving force for keeping our daily mins above the freezing mark, as happens oh so often during the winter around here. Temperatures held in the mid 40s overnight with fog at times and more recently has climbed over the 50° mark right now around sunrise.

The maximum temperature was 45.6° at 1419.

The minimum temperature was 35.7° at 0431.

Dew point temperatures ranged from a low of 33° @ 0414 up to a high of 43.4° @ 2358.

Relative humidity values ranged from a low of 76% @ 0000 up to a high of 94% @ 0837.

Barometric pressure ranged from a high of 30.45″ @ 0923 down to a low of 30.21″ @ 2355.

0.29″ of rain and drizzle fell on Friday. December 2018 now has a total of 0.73″ of precipitation (liquid water equivalent) . The year-to-date precipitation is now 59.54″. These amounts will continue to change over the weekend. The QPF (Quantative Precipitation Forecast) for my location is well over an inch of rain for the next two days. Unfortunately snow is not in the future forecasts for the foreseeable future.

For now, I am working on a better link to get my VP2 data on Weatherlink. I migrated over to Weatherlink 2.0 and my data isn’t so easy to find securely. Weather Underground should be used. My data is posted there every 5-10 minutes. My ID is KMDROCKV200 and my station is called “Gardens of Traville.” Data is online, normally just about in real-time. The web address for my data on weather underground is:
https://www.wunderground.com/personal-weather-station/dashboard?ID=KMDROCKV200

I contribute daily to CoCoRaHS as Rockville 2.8 WNW, Station ID MD-MG-115 on https://www.cocorahs.org/

Please remember that Weather Underground precipitation data reflects what is recorded automatically through the tipping bucket VP2 gauge, just as it does on WxLink 2.0. The tipping bucket is producing erratic values when compared with my 4 inch gauge. I actually use the data I post to CoCoRaHS from my 4 inch CoCoRaHS gauge I read manually as my “official” precipitation total each day.

Area Flood Watch in place for the region through Sunday.

On Saturday we have a 100 POP for rain with highs in the low 50s and lows in the low 40s.

Sunday rain continues (80 POP) and  cooler, with highs in the mid 40s and lows in the mid 30s.

Currently at 0906 the temperature is 50.4°, dew point temperature 49°, relative humidity 96%, and barometric pressure at 30.08″ and steady under cloudy, light rainy skies. During the overnight, temperatures rose a bit from the mid 40s at obs to up around 50° under the cloudy, lightly raining skies.
