Belated Happy Thanksgiving Day, partly cloudy to cloudy and very cold, still dry update from West Rockville Maryland for Wednesday, November 21, 2018 and Thanksgiving Thursday, November 22, 2018

I got caught up with my usual monthly project of compiling my summary for October for the NJWO at the expense of getting a bit behind here. I am combining reports for Wednesday and Turkey Day Thursday. I didn’t even have turkey for Thanksgiving. My daughter cooked a prime rib and it was delicious! She brought it over Thursday afternoon.

Wednesday gradually cooled off with partly cloudy skies and dry, with high temps around 50° and lows in the low 30s.

The max temperature was 50.0° at 1445.

The min temperature was 31.3° at 0708.

Dew point temperatures ranged from a low of 25° @ 0111 up to a high of 32° @ 0926.

Barometric pressure ranged from a low of 30.11″ @ 1326 up to a high of 30.29″ @ 2345.

Thanksgiving Thursday was mostly cloudy and cold. The high temp for the day was reached at 0000, the afternoon high temperature was only 30.8° at 1405. The clouds were a bit of a surprise, mostly a high thin overcast. Temps dropped into the 20s in the evening but winds lessened. Many long-term stations either set new records for cold or had their coldest day in several years.

The max temperature was 39.3° @ 0000. PM Max was 30.8° @ 1405.

The min temperature was 26.6° at 2342. AM Min was 27.5° @ 0740.

Dew point temperatures ranged from a high of 28° @ 0004 down to a low of 5° @ 2240.

Barometric pressure ranged from a low of 30.29″ @ 0000 up to a high of 30.63″ @ 2353.

No rain or snow fell on Wednesday or Thursday so November 2018 rainfall is still at 5.76″ with the year-to-date precipitation also still at 56.81″.

You can get my VP2 data on Weatherlink. I have migrated over to Weatherlink 2.0 so I have a new link for my data. You can now access the data through:

https://www.weatherlink.com/map/5aa32916-94c7-4a40-a2d0-0b74abfc8d8f

I am posting daily to weather underground. My ID is KMDROCKV200 and my station is called “Gardens of Traville.” Data is online, normally just about in real-time. The web address for my data on weather underground is:
https://www.wunderground.com/personal-weather-station/dashboard?ID=KMDROCKV200

I contribute daily to CoCoRaHS as Rockville 2.8 WNW, Station ID MD-MG-115 on https://www.cocorahs.org/

Please remember that Weather Underground precipitation data reflects what is recorded automatically through the tipping bucket VP2 gauge. And the tipping bucket is producing significantly higher values than my 4″ gauge.  I actually use the data I post to CoCoRaHS from my 4″ CoCoRaHS gauge I read manually as my “official” precipitation total each day.
