Sunny, dry day after a bit of early morning rain, snow all gone update for West Rockville MD for Friday, November 16, 2018
Well the sun came out for most of Friday, after the last of the precipitation (rain unfortunately) fell in the very early AM hours (0.06″), warming up to a max temperature reading of 44.4° at 1535 after a morning low of 33.5° at 0117. All of our natural snow was gone except in the shadiest, most protected spots by mid-afternoon. Some man-made piles of snow remain in a few spots.
Total monthly precipitation for November is now 5.76″ and the year to date amount is now 56.81″. Many Maryland stations are now over 60″ for the year, and headed to new records. Already setting an annual record is BWI airport – see Jeff Taylor’s blog about the specific details. And at the latest update, Marty told me that Cockeysville MD has set a new Maryland annual precipitation record. Cockeysville is just outside of Baltimore to my NE about 40 miles.
We had our annual Gardens of Traville apartment Thanksgiving dinner late on Friday afternoon under sunny skies. It was a real feast of great delicious food. Many residents and friends gathered to socialize and enjoy the vittles. Please see today’s featured image for a slice of the action.
Emmitsburg MD, about 40 miles to my N near the Pennsylvania line, had 7.0″ of snow according to my friend Eric Glass, COOP observer on his farm there. See image below for a view from his front yard early on Friday morning.
Cloudy skies at 0930 AM Saturday with a temp of 41.8°. A partly cloudy day ahead, and cloudy on Sunday, with possible showers on Monday but a generally dry, seasonably cool period from now to Thanksgiving and on to the end of the month.
Thanks, Kevin
