A continuation of the warm, dry spell that is starting out the month of October, some afternoon sprinkles in the area update from West Rockville MD for Wednesday, October 3, 2018

Wednesday continued warm and basically dry with partly sunny skies.

There were some sprinkles in the area but I did not observe/accumulate any here at my station.

High temperatures reached the low 80s mark by mid-afternoon,  after early morning lows in the upper mid 60s.

Wednesday’s max temperature was 81.6° at 1549.
Tuesday’s min temperature was 67.9° at 0709.

Dew point temperatures ranged from a high of 70° @ 0927 down to a low of 64° @ 2340.

Relative humidity values ranged from a high of 96% @ 0504 down to a low of 62% @ 1600.

Barometric pressure ranged from a low of 30.03″ @ 0056 up to a high of 30.09″ @ 1113.

You can get the VP2 data on Weatherlink. I have migrated over to Weatherlink 2.0

so I have a new link for my data. You can now access the data through:

I am posting daily to weather underground. My ID is KMDROCKV200 and my station is called “Gardens of Traville.”

Data is online, normally just about in real-time. The web address for my data on weather underground is:

I contribute daily to cocorahs as Rockville 2.8 WNW, Station ID MD-MG-115 on https://www.cocorahs.org/

Please remember that Weather Underground precipitation data reflects what is recorded automatically through the
tipping bucket VP2 gauge.

I actually use the data I post to cocorahs from my 4″ cocorahs gauge I read manually as

my “official” precipitation total each day.

October 2018 has had 0.00″ of rainfall at my location so far with my year-to-date precipitation still at 48.42″.

Overnight Tuesday into Wednesday was partly cloudy, milder and more humid than yesterday.

Dew points started the day around 70° but dropped into the mid 60s by the late evening, drying out some.

Wednesday was partly sunny and warm with highs in the low 80s and lows in the upper-mid 60s.

Thursday should be partly sunny and warmer, with highs up in the upper-mid 80s and lows in the upper 50s

as a cold front pushes through late in the day.

Friday should be mostly sunny and cooler, with highs around 70° and lows in the low 60s.

Saturday should be partly cloudy and remain relatively cool with highs in the mid 70s and lows in the mid 60s

with a 40 POP for AM showers. Sunday will have AM clouds and PM sun, with highs in the low 80s and lows

in the mid 60s.

It looks mostly like a dry start to the month of October, and longer range predictions through the middle of the month (at least) are for this warmer, drier weather to persist.

Our first freeze/frost looks to be several weeks away, as it has been trending later in the fall over the past few years.

Currently at 0235 the temperature is 67.7°, dew point temperature 64°,
relative humidity 87%, barometric pressure at 30.04″ and steady.

Currently I have clear skies and mild overnight temperatures in the mid-upper 60s.

Good morning from the Walrus early on this Thursday.

Kevin
