Today’s featured image is from our birthday dinner at Nantuckets Reef across the street from my apartment on Saturday evening. Kevin Shaw (birthday July 29), Rick Holden (birthday March 25), and Marty Brumback (birthday July 30) are in the picture, from left to right. A mini-weather observer get together in a nice social setting, talking about mutual weather observing issues of the day. Marty and Rick did a bit of work on my VP2 weather station earlier as Marty showed Rick the current setup. Rick got a radiation shield from Marty who had been storing it for me. Rick had worked on the radiation shield earlier in the year, cleaning it up considerably with a lot of elbow grease helped out by an appropriate grit sandpaper and various cleaning solutions.

After one more day of rain-less, partly cloudy skies on Sunday, rain chances ramp up for the next week as we bridge from July into August. Temps should be pretty steady and not extreme during this time, with highs in the low-mid 80s and low in the upper 60s-lower 70s. Isolated storms (30 POP) on Monday increase to scattered thunderstorms (60 POP) from Tuesday through Thursday. Conditions are not expected to generally be as rainy as the previous week was, but localized downpours are definitely possible at any time.
