Partly to mostly cloudy, cold AM, mild PM update for West Rockville Maryland on Sunday, March 11 2018
On Sunday, we had some sun at times and some clouds at other times with seasonably cool afternoon temperatures after one more frosty early AM with temps in the mid 20s. A clear, milder evening with temps holding in the 30s overnight into Monday morning. Remember, we are now on Daylight Savings Time so all time references from now on will be in Daylight Savings Time (DST). Mid 40s was reached by later afternoon after mid-upper 20s mins were reached in the early AM. The Sunday maximum temperature from the VP2 (46.0°) was recorded at 1751 while the minimum temperature (26.8°) was recorded at 0739. Dew point temperatures were of the same range as yesterday, ranging from a low of 19° at 0001 up to a high of 25° at 1326. Relative humidity values also stayed relatively low all day, similar to yesterday (75% – 39%). Barometric values raised a bit again today, ranging from an early high of 30.20″ at 0808 down to a low of 30.07″ later at 1709.
Remember now you can get the VP2 data on Weatherlink. You can access the data through http://www.weatherlink.com/user/walrusman444.
I am posting daily to weather underground. My ID is KMDROCKV200 and my station is called “Gardens of Traville.” Data is online, normally just about in real-time. I contribute daily to cocorahs as Rockville 2.8 WNW, Station ID MD-MG-115. Please remember that Weather Underground does not report snow data, and reflects what is recorded automatically through the tipping bucket VP2 gauge.
It was partly sunny and cold in the early AM on Sunday but moderating once again in the afternoon, with highs in the mid 40s and lows in the mid-upper 20s. Monday is starting out clear with temps right around the freezing mark, but clouds should be increasing through the morning as a storm system tries to move this way but I believe will generally remain south of the area. We could see periods of light snow or rain this afternoon and into the evening, with high temps in the low-mid 40s and lows in the upper 20s Officially I am seeing only a 10 POP for PM rain/snow showers later on in the day, but that remains to be seen, with close track of the radar necessary all day to keep close tabs over this potential precipitation maker. Tuesday should be mostly sunny with highs in the mid 40s and lows in the mid 20s. Wednesday should be mostly cloudy, windy and a bit colder with highs around 40° and lows in the mid 20s. Thursday looks to start warming up under mostly cloudy skies, with highs in the upper 40s and lows in the upper 20s. Friday looks to be partly cloudy with highs in the mid 40s and lows in the mid 20s.
On the Channel 4 weather website at 0810 radar is showing areas of light snow to our SW over parts of central VA and WV, apparently looking like it is heading this way according to the motion radar.
