Sunday was a mostly cloudy, colder day with just traces of evening rain in frontal activity that is ushering in some cold and  very windy conditions on occasion. The Sunday minimum temperature from the VP2 (36.8°) was recorded at 0739 while the maximum temperature (43.1°) was recorded at 0000. Dew point temperatures ranged from 38° at 0000 down to 31° at 1011. Relative humidity values lowered a bit from yesterday’s values (95% – 67%). Barometric values raised from yesterday, ranging from a high of 30.24″ at 0945 down to 29.87″ later at 2354.

Early Christmas Day Monday is partly cloudy and windy with temps cooling off into the lower mid 30s. So no White Christmas here this year, though pretty close by, within 100 miles away out in the mountains. Christmas Day should be mostly sunny, colder and windy, with highs in the lower mid 30s and lows in the low 20s. Tuesday looks partly cloudy with highs in the mid 30s, lows down to 20°, then on Wednesday temperatures further cool off to a high temp in the upper 20s and lows in the low teens under partly cloudy skies. Thursday should continue cold, with highs in the mid-upper 20s and lows in the teens under mostly sunny skies. As of now, AM snow showers are expected on Friday, with highs around 30° and lows around 20°. Continued cold with possible snow over the weekend to close out the year, hopefully.

On the Channel 4 weather website at 0659 radar is showing scattered snow showers, flurries or squalls through much of the mountain areas to my west, including parts of WV, PA, western MD/VA, NY with a snowstorm over much of New England. So lots of places having a White Christmas this year!

There was a trace of precipitation in the cocorahs gauge on Sunday. The VP2 tipping bucket rain gauge under my balcony recorded no precipitation on Sunday through midnight, as it doesn’t register trace amounts. However, 0.01″ has accumulated since midnight.

December snowfall is now 3.3″. The seasonal snowfall total is 3.3″.

The Lakewood rain gauge reported 0.00″ of precipitation through midnight on Sunday. However, they are now reporting 1.09″ of precipitation falling up to this point in December, and a grand total of 40.43″ of rain for the year-to-date value. I will be going in depth into their records to see if these values are correct for the month and the year.
